Hey guys I am 17 years old and just had my tonsils out on 02/05/15. I am currently on day 5 and honestly the surgery for me has not been too bad for me.
The day of surgery I got home and was feeling overheated. Idk why but once my fans were turned on I felt a lot better. My throat just had normal pain compared to all the other soar throats I have had. I at ice water this day.
The next 2 days I really did not eat much because it hurts to swallow. I tried eating some mashed potatoes and a frosty from Wendy's. Nothing really was worth swallowing in pain to get it down. I kept in ice pack on my throat to psychologically easy some pain.
So swallowing was the worst part for these couple of days. Also you get a large amount of spits that forms in your mouth. I spit it out. But keep in mind to drink a lot of water! Even if it hurts
So day 3 I ate soup from panera as well as the cheese pastry. Haha! I must have been really lucky with pain because I was not hurting much.
Day 4 I at the panera soup again and tried some chocolate cake/brownie. I think your taste buds get screwed up for a little bit because the chocolate tasted horrible. Not to mention, I did have a tiny bit of blood after eating on day 4, later in the day.
It's day 5 and 4:00 am I am up because throughout the night you will wake up with pain. My thought is your that dries out and swallowing hurts it. So I decided to take a percocet. So far I have only taken 6-7 percocet and now I'm just taking ib profen.
I will update. Like when I can eat some pizza!!
My doctor said that I had no food restrictions
Keep hydrated
Consider what to do with all the spit in your mouth

I'm a 17 year old female who got my tonsils out 2/13/15. When I first read these reviews prior to my surgery, I never thought the pain would be as intense as everyone described. I was completely wrong. I was relatively fine the day of and after surgery, the pain meds seemed to work and though I was uncomfortable, the pain was bearable. Had one episode of immense pain the first night because I forgot to set my alarm for medicine but was fine after a double dose and a cooling pad for my neck. However, by the third day I was in complete agony. Everything tasted horrible and what I did consume burned my throat and hurt my stomach. I didn't eat much from day 3-5, a period in which I often become nauseous, presumably from taking the medicine on an empty stomach most of the time. Throwing up when you have already painful scabs in your mouth has to be the worst pain ever. The stomach cramps are very painful as well from hunger and throwing up. I'm only 6 days through and hoping for the pain to end although I have no hope for the foreseeable future. The ear pain is also miserable as well but I've found heating pads help to relieve the aching. Ultimately the procedure has been worse than I anticipated but I'm hoping it will be worth the pain once I am healed and won't have to endure multiple cases of strep throat and sleep apnea.
