Hi all,

Just started Weightlifting at a gym 3X a week. Doing so to bulk up so concentrating on high weights not high reps. Into my third week now. Doing well, each time upping my max weight on most machines plus some good signs on my weight and body.

However last night had a scare. Pleasingly just managed the full stack for the first time on a leg extend machine but afterwards I was dizzy, almost fell over, then because sick to my stomach and my hands arms and upper body tingling like crazy, also shaking a little - but no associated muscle pain or burn at all! Had to lie down for 15 mins before began to feel better. Really nasty! :$

Don't want that again! Any reasons/tips out there?

Many thanks

Chris
Hi Chris,

A couple of things come to mind. You might be getting dehydrated or overheated. Your symptoms suggest dehydration. You appear to be pressing yourself pretty hard.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids, water, not the energy drinks, as you work out. Take a break occasionally to cool down.

If you aren't urinating almost clear, you're dehydrated. Most of us usually are.

If it continues then see your doctor.
