Prednisone killed my father the doctors gave it to him to treat a low platelet count in his blood. But it suppressed his immune system and he got an infection and his body could not fight it off
Was searching 'death by high dose Prednisone' and came across this year old post. I'm still haunted by the 1983 death of my beloved grandmother at age 59. She suddenly became sick and her primary physician set her up with a rheumatologist. He quickly diagnosed her with Lupus. She was on a slew of medications (that never helped her) and he put her on 100mgs of Prednisone, a day. The dosage was never pulsed or lowered. As I cared for her, I gave her these toxic drugs as directed by that man, we trusted.Months later she was put into intensive care where she died. We spoke to her ICU nurse and were beyond shocked when the nurse angrily exclaimed, "The dose of prednisone & length of time on the high-dose-Prednisone is unheard of. That's why she died.". Immediately, we asked to speak to that doctor. The nurse replied, "He suddenly picked up & moved to California."(we were in Pa). So in other words, he murdered the world's dearest lady & then immediately, fled.We never got over it. The guilt & shame of my own ignorance is unbearable, to this day. Now that I've been dealing with Lyme/Babesia, I can see these are the same exact symptoms, my grandma had. If we'd have had a functional medicine dr or a naturopath....If only we'd have had the internet back then...Dismayed to see so many people taking so many drugs, they don't even know the names of/dosages or even what they are for in this day & age. No one will probably see this reply on this old post but I've decided to share our experience everywhere, I can.....in hopes, it protects the life of someone else's loved one.
Maybe you should let people answer the way they choose. People need to know about this c**p. I had an alarmingly serious reaction to it as well. If I hadn't recognized it for what it was and stopped, I probably wouldn't be here.
