Okay so four days ago i had a septoplasty to relieve the breathing situation in my nose. From an eary age i was unable to breathe out of my left side and for years i was told i had to wait until i could get the operation due to my age and changing facial structure. My septum has always been deviated and caused problems for my health and self image, as i noticed it often in pictures which i avoided. Now i am four days out still in my nose cast and the swelling and bruising has gone right down, however my nose still appears squint and now my nostrils are two different sizes, one long and the other small and round, this makes my nose look even more distorted than it did in the first place, and i am beginning to worry that the operation has really messed up my appearance, being only sixteen this is something that worries me greatly.I still have splints in and i still have my cast on so i don't know if the shape will look different when i have both removed in 3 days time, but obviously i am very concerned about it as a whole. Can anyone who has been through this operation or knows someone that has and has had similar problems or knows anything that will help me please can you give me some advice. I am really worried and need some support or help, thankyou.

Wow it's too bad no one has answered your question. I just had a septoplasty 6 days ago, and one nostril was larger than the other because of the swelling, it's gotten better as time has gone on but is still not completely back to normal. You should discuss any issues with your doctor immediately, but swelling and difference in shape is a normal part of surgical healing. Also, as you're 16, I know this won't help much, but people really REALLY don't notice things like that. I swear to god, I'm 24 and used to worry about my hair and pimples and all sorts of stuff I swear to god you notice way more than other people. I'm sure you would have to specifically mention or point out your nose for someone to notice; people tend not to look at minor symmetrical differences closely or even notice them.
