Hello, folks. My little cousin has been diagnosed with infective endocarditis and she must be treated now. She was prescribed erythromycin. I wonder if this is a proper therapy. I would appreciate if you could tell me something more about this. I hope it won’t bother you. Thanks for all your help.

Hello, there. Therapy for infective endocarditis should be aggressive. It consists of antibiotics that are given intravenously. This lasts for 2 to 4 weeks. I think that it would be best to choose antibiotic upon blood culture. Antibiogram determines best which antibiotic bacteria are sensitive to. I guess erythromycin is something that doctor’s experience show as the most effective. I hope this helps. Good luck with all! Bye!

Hi, folks. My friend was treated from infective endocarditis. He was hospitalized. He received antibiotics intravenously. I think it lasted for about 3 weeks. However, after this he must be very careful. Whenever he must do a procedure, he must take an antibiotic before and after. This also includes dental procedures. I hope your little cousin will be all right. Bye!
