Please help me with something! My little niece suffers from ptozis of the right eye and I am quite sure that this is serious and that it needs to be surgically corrected. The doctor has said that my sister and her husband have nothing to worry about though. That does not sound right at all! What do you think?
The doctor is right. While ptotis is a condition that can sometimes be problematic in that it can restrict a person's eyesight, it is not dangerous. There is a non invasive surgical procedure that can correct the ptosis, but it is up to your niece's parents to decide if and when that is necessary. Subjecting a small baby to surgery is certainly not something to be taken light.
