Sounds to me like it could be a mix of things. Could of started off with allergies, depression or say neck pain can be something just like sitting to much and using the computer. Sitting alot can actually cause alot of problems. Most of the doctors seem to just want to try an easy cure and get you out of there office. So my thought would be is to look at everything around you and start eliminating certain things. See if allergies cause any problems? You can check out an allergist and have the test done. Or you can clean and you should be worse then get somewhat better after you get over the cleaning part. If you sit alot try doing some light cardio. Not sure if its depression get out with some friends if possible and just try to laugh and have a good time. I'm terrible at getting together with friends. I have no interest in anything. I do what anyone else wants because I have no interests.
Anyways look to see if anything in your life has changed prior to your problems maybe something your doing, eating, or what is around you might be causing this.
Good luck.

I have been this pulsating feeling at the right side of my head for a week now.At first I thought it was a side effect to the medications I was taking for my cold. But now I am not taking anything and they are coming on strong and more frequently. I am scheduled for a MRI and MRA.my neurologist also scheduled me to see a ear, nose, and throat doctor. Will post a new review if I have any success.

I too have had these symptoms every since my hysterectomy in January. It is like my nervous systems is out of wack. Head zaps I would go into vertigo for 2 to 4 days, MRI good. I was put on a anti-seizure medication for silent migraines which has changed my life by 80 percent. Depakote. I just take 500 mg a day. The doctor told me that my systems is like in shock because I was on birth control pills for so long with a good constant dose of estrogen that I am also having periperhal neuropathy. Now I just have my ovaries, but not enough estrogen as I was getting. I hope this helps. You are not crazy.

No, not at all! Mine started about 4 months ago, rapid pressure going up my head until I sat down quickly because I thought I was going to pass out. Have had occasional dizzy spells then tonight I laid down on my right side and a sudden rush of pressure and immediate dizziness. Scared me, I sat up immediately, took two baby asprins, didn't know what else to do. Then I tried laying on my back and the same thing happened. I have had sleeping problems since 2003 when stress happened. I dont' know what is causing this, had the heart test, said I was really fine. I am going back and have them check for blockage just in case. My right arm was hurting months ago after taking a medication, Crestor, for over 18 months. I stopped that and almost all the aching stopped but my elbow has pains, sometimes thru my shoulder up my right side of neck. When I put pillows under me and try sleeping sitting up it seems I haven't had this problem. What is causing this and the pain in my elbow, shoulder and neck. Any suggestions??

Going back at least seven or eight year, I have had pulsating feelings in my head, almost like my heart beating but in my head, especially when I am sleeping. I'd had trouble sleeping, I had CMV virus earlier in my life and I struggle from fibromyalgia. Muscle and nerve pain in my neck and shoulders, headaches, lightheadedness, and a pressure feeling in my ears, as well as severe fatigue. I've been to ENT's, neurologists, doctors, allergists, acupuncturists, colonic hydrotherapists, massage therapists....I also have a lot of bloating and IBS. I think my problems related to a lack of oxygen to the brain, as I get more lightheaded the more I talk, sing, or try to take deep breaths, and when I am inside with a lot of people. I am checking into food senstivities and sleep apnea right now. But I feel like I will die an early death and I am only 37.

I have recently started getting the same weird symptoms. its not quite dizziness, but i feel a sudden wave of pulsing behind my eyes, strain in my neck, and pain in the back of my head on the left side. I thought it might be an ear infection, because i got one before, but the symptoms don't match. it irritating not know, and doctors don't seem to be of any help. I 'm just afraid it will get to a point where i'm really diizy and will faint.

Last year around this time I was diagnosed with Chronic Migraines. I went through the horrible medicine perscribed to me called Topamax. This medicine is used to treat siezures. They say there is a connection somehow. It only took 3 months before I tried getting myself off the medicine (I hate medicine). When I did I had no more headaches or Migraines. A bit after that long story, but I got a free x-ray from a Chiropractors office and he told me that my neck is at phase 3 of (don't remember terminoligy) my bones decaying. I stay away from caffiene because they say it triggers headaches. Today I was at my desk and I looked down my head started pulsating and then I got dizzy. After words I still felt dizzy for a bit. I haven't felt like that since I was on the Topamax.

I have the same exact feeling and I also have gotten off lexapro recently!! It wasn't much (10 mg), but I had been taking it for over 5 years. I was getting nervous with this feeling, but this has been great to read! I will take the advice of the person who said to not flat out stop! I'll cut what i have in half...

Hey guy's I feel so sorry for all of you thinking that something is wrong with you as you are unfortunately misinformed. What is happening is called DNA activation. In other words your cellular makeup is changing - preparing itsself for the coming natural events over the next years. Ever heard of your 3rd eye? Its in the center of your brain. Its called the Pineal gland

These links should get you started on your road to awakening and ascension - another useful tip is to stop using fluoride toothpaste as fluoride kills the Pineal gland and is also the main ingredient in rat poison. I know this sounds horrible but try to be as veggie as possible and keep away from sweets and fizzy drinks - unless of course the ingredients are natural

- useful recourse

- for all those with 'ADHD' there is nothing wrong with you - stop taking the drugs

You are all very special individuals and the reason the doctors cant tell you what it happening is because they are not savvy

:) hope this will help

To the post above... you sound crazy.

I have been doing alot of research on this too, mainly because i have alot of these same symptoms. I think that what alot of people are experiencing might be different things. From what I can find these symptoms can be triggered by

allergies
anxiety
meds
nerve issues
vertigo complications

BUT if your symptoms are mainly momentary weakness with movement, especially when standing, with a quick throb in the head that quickly goes a way... it sounds like orthostatic hypotension. When you stand the blood rushes, due to gravity, into the lower parts of the body and quickly out to the brain (weakness feeling). The brain hates not having blood so very quickly compensates but many times will over shoot causing the throb feeling.
i hope this helps. ofcourse a website is in no way a substitution for seeking real medical advice....

To all dull headed, swooshy, head pressure, dizzy , worried friends: This has been a constant partner for me for over 7 years. I am 59, have nasty fibromyalgia, (typical symptoms since age 42.) Lots of arthritis, knees to be replaced. Lots of things to deal with. Very high inherited cholesterol/triglycerides on meds for many years. I could blame the bothersome, weak symptoms and all the crapy feelings on many things. Where to even start.? I do believe they started when I would miss a pill for cymbalta as this was the result whenever I did miss or run out. I was so depressed with pain everywhere, this worked for me, and the norepinephrines helped pain and still does.
I may have caused these familiar symptoms we all have with this medicine. Or the multiple meds for lowering my blood counts. Who knows. Allergies? yes that too. Plugged bad at night. Through all of this I am a very strong, hard working person. I ride and work with horses and do many physical things untill my knees object. So---with all the meds I need to be taking to keep my vascular system from plugging up and alieve some pain (I take that too) and yet feel up each day with pain, this may be symptoms I must tolerate. Some days terribly debilitating, others workable. I hate the head weakness/pain and swooshes too. I have since had a bout with lightning through my feet to my head. Major iinstant head pain,((respect lightning!) caused multiple neurological abnormalities and the head stuff with hard heart beats was a little worse. Setteld down now and they found a sm cist in the mid-inner brain. May have been there forever, may not grow but time will tell. I keep pluggung and do lots. I am living and standing and will do my best every day to be useful. Bless you all. Keep workin at it.
By the way, diet and lots of hard work exercise, even with pain has not ever reduced my bad levels of cholesterol/tri's.

I've been having the exact symptoms as the others. quick and painless pulsating sensation in the brain.
I am 17 years old, I eat normal. Normal weighted (BMI):19 Average height 5'11'' and Active and what not.
Since this has been happening, I haven't been sleeping well. I can hear it, coming and going.
It's surely driving me insane. It's an unexplainable sound. I am typing this at 2:41AM.
I was trying to get some sleep. I closed my eyes, and started hearing the sounds and my brain starts pulsing.
It pulsed so hard this time, I don't know how to explain it but it felt like a huge wave went through my head.
I opened my eyes and screamed, and my heart started to beat faster and my body starts trembling.

I'm scared.
And Reading all this amazes me how we all share the same issue. Some of you guys actually seen several doctors and still got no answer to our problem.

To Timmy
Iam now over a hump of feeling these terribly scary symptoms and not good sleep. I must ask you to research your medications, present or past.
Without realizing it, I had followed my doctors change of prescription for my "Cymbalta" which has norepinepherines for my joint pain Fibromyalgia and seratonin levels to fight slight depression from constant pain. The insurance co. would not pay for 2x a day doses. went to one a day, thats when problems started. BUT I didn't make the connection untill I was severly affected. Missing a dose would have also added to increase those symptoms. GUESS WHAT? as soon as I took the med after missing a couple with a non-thinking head, I was back to normal and healty. No more symptoms. No swooosh, no night mares, no hard pulsations from heart beat, no light headedness. No weakness. This just goes to show you how important it is to be very vigilant of your meds. What works for others isn't true for all. Check you past meds and any changes.
