Hi, I'm not sure if you're talking to me but I have nothing to report. I've been going to the acupuncturist and so far no luck. I've been hoping someone would post and say something that would help too. I apologize if you were waiting for me.

I have been reading the posts on here under "Quit smoking a year ago - sick ever since" and if you read all the posts quite a few mention bloating/gas/constipation as problems that resolve over time. I think we're all different but I do think it will resolve eventually. I pray it will anyway!

I realise this is an old post just wondering if you are now ok and if anything helped..

The last bunch of posts were from the past month or so. I'm still in the same boat still after 8 months. I'm hoping it'll eventually get better. I think the bloating is a bit better but not much.

Yes a lot of the posts a few weeks ago were mine and another poster. Unfortunately I too am still the same, going into my 8th month now....still chronic belching wind and bloating.

Hi, this is the girl who was posting with you prior to your acupuncture appointment. I was wondering how you got on but I see not so good. I too am still the same unfortunately.

Yes, this is me. My name is Karen. I'm still going to the acupuncturist and taking all sorts of supplements. I do think there has been an improvement but not major. I'm hoping in time it'll go back to normal. Did you see where I recommended another group on this web site that talks about it? It's called "Quit smoking a year ago - sick ever since". Quite a few people talk about digestion problems and some took a year or more to resolve.

Hi Karen, I'm glad there's been some improvement for you however small! I'm waiting on an appointment with a Gastro at the moment. Not sure what else that can be done but I have to try. I'm cracking up from this! I must have a look at that other section you referred to...

No changes here. Have been taking Opti-Bac Every Day probiotics and seen a very slight improvement, hardly worth mentioning really. Considering trying the Opti-Bac Extra Strength pills - they get great reviews online for all types of stomach/digestive problems. I've now lived with this 'condition' for 19 months but doctor did tell me a while back it can take a long time for your body to get back to normal when you stop smoking. Not sure what she meant by 'long time'!

Hello again, sorry to hear that. I'm also still the same but more Frustrated than ever. I'm so bloated nowadays I've one pants left that fits! Everything else is too tight despite loosing a few pounds..also still burping all day every day.,,

It is uncomfortable and embarrassing. I wish I knew about this from the beginning but, then again, if we were told maybe we wouldn't have quit. I have to believe at some point it will get better! I think I read on that other group that it can take 1 month for every year you smoked. I smoked for approximately 37 years. UGH.

oh God, I smoked for 19... It is very embarrassing and socially debilitating. Like you I am trying to just get on and hope it eventually ceases. If I come across anything that helps I will be sure to let you know too.

I just talked to a friend I hadn't talked to in a while. She moved out of state years ago. I told her about quitting smoking 8 months ago and the issue we're all having. She said, "I quit about 10 years ago and I had that issue too. It will go away." I asked her how long and she said she didn't remember the exact amount of time but it did take quite a while but promised me I would be back to normal eventually. I'll take any hope I can get! :)
