How many people have quit drinking on there own, and how many had to use groups or couseling? I have been a pretty heavy drinker for about ten years and had gotten to the point i was drinking daily and most days over 12.
I had stopped for 2 days, but they still stuck me in a detox center for 5 days.
The counseling and soul searching was just what I needed.

boco. Were the 2 days that bad? How heavy of a drinker were you. Not finding many positive reply's on here. A little scared of the anxiety now. I am down to a couple of beers a day but need to take this last step.

There is no last step to Alcoholism. The last step repeats itself followed by the first step. Alcohol can and will cause psychological, and physical dependence. Be careful, and don't do it alone. Recovery can take time, support and lots of effort. Find a friend you trust, ask them to help you through this hardship time of recovery of yourself.

I came off of a 2 day bender, the next 2 days weren't bad I had a mighty big incentive to stop. I wen to AA on the 1st day, then a therapist that evening, that my MD the next day who stuck me in the Detox.

I really wasn't all that bad the past year or so at least compared to the previous 30 yrs.
2 beers a nite, then a case on the weekend with occasional shots sprinkled throughout the week.

I am on day 4 now with no drinks. Has not been that bad at all so far. Was surprised. Should get better from here i would think. Have done it all on my own so far and has really not bothered me not to have a beer. At least not yet. Feels good to have some energy in the mornings. Dont think i could ever go back to drinking as heavily as i was.
