My 4 year old started out with a cold about a week ago, then a rash on his penis and balls that went away after two days. He did have a fever about a week ago when he first got the cold but hasn't had the fever for a couple of days now. He still has a really bad cough that lasts through the day but has calmed down at night. I was giving him cold meds at night because he couldn't sleep because of the coughing. Last night I noticed a rash on his bottom. Actually from far away I thought it was just a pimple on his butt and no big deal but then when i got closer I noticed a bad rash that was several different sores that have crusted over but a few that are still pimple like with puss inside. I figured it was impetego (sp?). I had decided that if it isn't any better by Tuesday when he Dr is in the office then I would call and get him in. Well about an hour ago I noticed a lump on the side of his neck bigger than a golfball. It wasn't there earlier but is very noticiable without touching it now. He says it hurts and on the other side the gland (I am assuming) is swollen as well and tender but only the size of a marble. The rash now seems to be spreading to his belly. Could this still be impetego? Does anyone have experience with this? I thought maybe he got an infection from taking a bath with his baby brother who had a diaper rash(yeast infection). <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank">
i can't say i know what's wrong sorry. But my niece kind of had something similar when she was about 3 or 4. It turned out she had bad Eczema . She did have the bump in her neck it turned out 2 be soft tissue, not harmless at all. I don't know if your son has something similar but i hope everything turns out ok. It is an infection. The infection spread some more then finally calmed down. Took him to the Dr and the Dr gave him some antibiotics to take for 10 days, It starts with O but I can't remember the exact name. Then gave him some ointment for his butt and some for his penis. Hopefully that will help it. Dr said it could take a week or two before we notice it getting better, if it doesn't get better then she will try something else. Thanks.
