Im sorry, all of you guys who smoke and dont have any sideffects. Let me tell you my story:

my husband is 25 and has been a stoner for a couple of years. probably 10. in this time he was depressive couple of times. and has taken lexapro/ecitalopram and has tryed other meds aswell. lexapro and ecitalopram work for him right now - so he says - pretty well. just in a combination with cannabis not. thats my opinion. and this is why.

he smoked and has quit smoking. every time when he comes back to smoking again his dependency grows. i can say that comparing to before, he has to smoke more to make his pretty life prettyer. from smoking a joint a day going to smoke 5-6 joints a day, 4-5 days in a week. you can imagine - and anyone can confirm that - how you feel the days when you dont smoke, cause you dont have any chemical reactions that can "keep" you happy.

i dont know what happens in the body exactly when you use the meds and the drug, cause im not an expert, but i can just see him each day getting worse and worse and above all it is effecting our marriage. he is going to therapie aswell, and even though, nothing helps. he is getting worse and worse and whenever i try to talk to him he blocks and goes crazy. our marriage is seriusly damaged and he doesnt even care, but I see the struggle inside of him, I see what he is going trough, he just has no energie left, cause all the energie is sucked out through cannabis. meds then have no effect, or not the one they should be having.

try to bring your nephew to a psychologist. he needs professional help. the best is someone who is not really a proponent of cannabis as such, especially not combined with anti depressiants.

slowly your body is going to get used to it, and youll need much more to "feel" something. but feeling something in a "wrong" way wont bring anyone further.

I am having the same issue. After starting lexapro I am finding it much harder to control my weed consumption.

I have a question i too use lexapro and have for some years now, and just recently started smoking again (marijuana) but my question is does marijuana help you in some way? Like does it help you with your disorder?

Please dont purport a blanket statement like that. The only way i could ever feel normal and go to sleep after taking adderol was by smoking marijuana. Me and many friends have. If you have adverse effects from the combination of weed and adderol then there must be something else lurking.

I have the same reaction, I take 10 mg lexapro daily and I smoke weed, this sh*t is like mixing pcp and weed, like being stuck in the matrix

Hi Katie, Depending on the age of your nephew, marijuana could have profound negative effects on him. There is an enormous amount of research that is now showing that marijuana usage by teenagers increases the risks of severe mental health problems including schizophrenia. If he is currently being treated for depression or anxiety, then there is a chance that his condition could become worse with marijuana usage. There is a lot of material on the web. Look for credible research on marijuana use in teenagers and provide him with real information, not simply someones else's personal experience. Cheers

I had much the same thing happen to me, and I've not ever had a seizure before. For me, a few (2 or 3 over the span of a an evening) alcoholic drinks were also involved.

omg i feel the same way... was it my anxiety/depression that lead me to the weed, which may or may not have prolonged my mental breakdown, now if i take this pill they want me to take will it make me better or just different... I've been smoking for over 5 years, i started smoking cuz it made me feel normal and able to connect with people, but due to a series of events i am now an anxious mess who can barely make it through the day and i just got prescribed lexapro... i dont know if i should stop smoking before i start taking the pills or if i should continue smoking while taking the pills.

I have used adderal for recreational use while on celexa and buspar. There were no negative side effects. I recently dropped celexa and buspar and started on Lexapro for depression and anxiety. I smoke bud a couple times a week and have had no negative side effects either. Comment that I'm replying to is false. Also, your nephew will be perfectly fine as long as he doesn't abuse marijuana.

I completely understand that fear as i was in the same boat. For the longest time I just used the pills, and i felt fine. The ast three months I have began using small amounts of marijuana again with the 20 mg cipralex, and it seems to be absolutely fine. :) I think the trick is to use very small amounts of weed, like one puff.

my aunt took lexapro with weed and it ended up making her go crazy and having mood swings and have a lot of paranoia but that happens about 2 to 3 months after taking them both together
