i've recently started having a problem with losing erections during sex/masturbation. i'm 21 years old, i don't drink very often (MAYBE 1-2 times a week), i do smoke cigarettes on occasion, no drugs, good shape, yada-yada.
i have no problem at all getting an erection. it lasts all through foreplay with no problems. no problems while putting on a condom. but within 2-5 minutes of starting actually having sex, it goes limp and there's nothing i can do about it. it stays down for about 10-15 minutes (the down time for me to hate life) and then i have no problems with getting another erection. i know for a fact that i'm not ejaculating (premature/normal) because the same thing happens with oral sex.
i don't understand, because i'm in the mood...i don't get distracted during either. my head is "in the game". i have been under a lot of stress with school/money, but that's the last thing on my mind while having sex. it's not my girlfriend either...she is beyond pretty with an amazing body. she does everything well, so it's not like i'm getting "bored" due to the lack of her participation.
the only thing i can think of is that i have recently lost quite a bit of weight. in the past 5-6 weeks, i have lost 24lbs. i don't eat as much as i use to, as often as i used to. there weren't any dietary suppliments or drugs. the weight loss was not by choice...i just started shaving weight like crazy. i still drink soda, i still eat the same stuff i did before (when there weren't any problems)....just not as much. i can't eat the same amounts that i did before.
so could this be a nutrition problem or possibly something else? i've read through a few things, and supposedly zinc will help out a lot? another thing i've noticed is a possible circulation problem? i've been having numbness in arms/legs very easily lately (sitting in not-so-awkward positions that used to pose no problems...now make me lose blood flow.)

Hi, I'm sorry but I don't have any real advice for you, I just wanted to say that when I was with my girlfriend I had the exact same problem. Every single thing you just described is exactly what happened to me down to almost every detail. I am also 21.
I figured it was just nerves or something, though it has only happened with this girl, none of the other girls I have had sex with. She was also very pretty and was wonderful during sex. It really made me depressed and it has made me extremely nervous when it comes to thinking about even trying to have sex with another girl, as I don't want to embarrass myself. Which just adds to the problem, as now I obssess with "what if I can't keep it up again?!", which inevitably leads to it going flacid again from the worry.
I came on to this site looking for advice on how to counter it and I found your post, so I will be keeping a close eye on it. I hope someone comes through for us, for both of our sakes.
Good luck man.

I am not a doctor or therapist- just someone experiencing the same erectile dysfunction (ED) during sex. After doing some research on the topic, I would suggest that you visit a doctor immediately to discuss your excessive weight loss within a short time period. Excessive weight loss within a short time frame for no apparent reason might be an indicator of diabetes, and diabetes can sometimes cause ED. Take care, and good luck.
I am currently studying to be a RN... I have to agree. You need a glucose tolerance test or fasting glucose test ASAP. The numbness and tingling that you are having could very well be neuropathy. Normally there is hair loss or thinning to the toes and fingers. If you don't pass the tests you might ask for an A1C test. It will let you know how well your sugars have been over the last 6 months. I will hope that your problem is simply stress(which can also cause all your symptoms) but remember diabetes is very manageable if you take control of the disease. Be sure to tell the doctor about the erection problems they will be able to make recommendations on what to do. good luck!
