I've had the same problem for a long time now. I've heard it can because you don't sunbath your legs or you have an allergy to heat. Ive known I have an allergy to heat since I was a baby. It's normal to have as you can see many people commenting has it too. The only thing I know is to put lotion on your legs and hope that it helps a little. There isn't really any way to get rid of the redness.

I'm wondering if it has to do with hyper sensitivity to heat. Maybe over reactive mast cells? They release histamine when stimulated, and if it is over sensitive then it will release histamine when it's not really needed, like when exposed to heat. I had a skin condition where I had too many mast cells called urticaria pigmentosa, and I was at risk for breaking out in the hives just from clothes rubbing my skin the wrong way. It happens to me after I shower as well so I'm curious too as most of my symptoms have disappeared with age. I'm wondering if it could be something to do with the mast cells because someone said something about an allergy medicine helping and that medicine would likely block histamine or something like that so you don't overreact I believe, or the medicine could be an antihistamine. This is all a theory based on my experiences but I hope you get it figured out as it seems to be affecting your everyday life. God bless

I have the same thing. It started last year. I'm a 13 year old girl in 7th grade, this started in 5th grade. I have never seen a doctor about it and my parents don't seem to notice. I have been researching what it could be for half an hour, and I've found nothing. After about 5 minutes of being in the sun, my knees start to get very red. if I'm out for longer, it starts to spread around my legs. I get the redness in blotches about the size of a small kids hand (not in that shape obviously) and they go away a couple of minutes after I go inside or after I cool down. My feet also get very red from standing up after a while on a warm/hot day, and from taking hot showers. I don't get tan blotches after the redness goes away. If anyone has found anything please reply! :)

Hello. Sorry to hear about your red bumps. I too have experienced them after being in the sun for few hours or more. They seem to appear on back of my calves, lower legs, sides of legs & little around ankles. After much time & evaluation I found mine to be small ants or sweat flies which can land & bite without being aware most time. Since I am taking a herbal blood cleanse, I have found they do not remain long time. Since then every time I am out I cover legs or if in shorts watch closely & sure enough they come out for the legs and I never noticed before.

I do hope you discover your reason but I found out mine. Thank God.

I’m not a doctor but this has happened to me too and my doctor has told me it’s due to extreme heat where the blood vessels dilate and are more visible and cause the red spots that go hot even when you’re not exercising or in the heat. It’s very common and you may notice it happens on people’s necks or chest’s. As far as i know, there’s no cure and it’ll just go away. Hope this helps! :)

Most people on this thread have mentioned that it is not bumpy/textured, so I think what you were talking about was something different as it was about a reaction to insects, but this issue is about the body's sensitivity to heat. Glad you found a solution to your problem though.
