Hey everyone,
I am 2 wks post op & am having anxieties & concerns regarding the swelling & final outcome. I know this is normal & I know it can take months for swelling to go down to see anything remotely close to final results. That does not ease my mind though! I'm that person that needs to be reassured through the experience of others! Any promising & positive reassurance would be amazing to hear & most helpful thx!!
I had my bridge reshaped, had a small bump, had it straightened out to improve my profile. I also had my tip slightly thinned, lifted (not rotated which is different & gives the "piggy" appearance), & the columella shortened. I am quite swollen. I constantly obsess about my face & am always looking in the mirror. There is a lot of swelling in the bridge which makes it looks much wider than I like, more than it should. My bridge was always quite thin so I realize this is swelling but it is still bothersome. There is also swelling which seems to spread to & affect my eyes area making me look quite strange (below my eyes & inner areas near the bridge/eye area). Normal?? My tip is very hard & swollen, kind of rounded & upturned, showing my nostrils, which again, was not a problem I had before.
I guess I am worried because I have always been quite happy with my appearance & most features & had these surgeries to improve upon them & enhance that! I just can't wait until all is well & I love the results, when I can look back at this & chuckle at what a crazy person I was being!!
Please share your experiences with the stages of healing, progress & results along the way!! I need to know I'm over obsessing & everything will be just great!! Thanks :-)

I had a septo/rhinoplasty done on the 11th of Aug and today is will be 2 weeks since my surgery. I am unhappy with my nose at this point because I look like a mix between the grinch and a pig. I asked for my small bump to be removed and tip to be less bulbous. I let my surgeon know that I do not want to come out looking like a pig. I am just hoping that after the swelling subsides that my nose will take on a normal appearance. When the cast came off, I came home and was crying because I was so freaked out by the way my nose looks. I am trying to reassure myself that it is still early on in the healing process and once the swelling goes down my nose will look normal. Hopefully this helps you to know that I understand the anxiety and hopefully in time we will like our new noses :-)
I know exactly what it is that you are going through. It has been a week for me, I just got my cast and bandages removed today, and my nose is very wide and unattractive. I went in to straighten out a hump, and I got so much more than cutting the camel's back. I got this "blob," as other posters have put it.
There is another thread on here, currently above this one, on the same topic. Many people have the same issue, and apparently it could take up to three years for a complete result. Not to say that months won't see us get better, around a year we should be looking alright.
At least I know things can only look up, though I am in high school and would've liked to have looked my best my senior year.
Just know that you are not alone, original poster. Try putting damp wash cloths on your nose while you sleep, also elevating it. This apparently helps as opposed to ice, which could leave it more swollen.
