Im 31 and for as long as i can remember, ive had a very long right labia in comparison to my left, it actually hung outside my vaginia and was always catching on my underwear etc. In Jan of this year at my last smear test, I decided to mention it to my doctor who agreed that it was on the large side and she would refer me to a gynocologist to see what they think. Basically, he also agreed that my right labia was causing me emotional and physcial pain and he put me on the waiting list for a labia reduction on the NHS. This took place on friday and after reading so many stories on these forums i was scared but can honestly say its the best thing ive done. I was home by 11.30pm on friday night and thought that when i woke up on sat morning i would feel awful but i honestly didnt. i even went to a bbq that day and even to work today so no one knows any different (other than my husband of course). i have had 2 kids so know the tender feeling down below after birth and it hasnt even felt that bad, i know we are all different but i just wanted to let anyone know that if you feel that you will benefit from this procedure then go ahead and do it. im already feeling more confident about myself and i only had the reduction done 3 days ago.
Hello :-)
I am 18 years old and have the same problem you did.
I am so concious of it and it really gets me down..i feel very self concious and not confident atall, i wont even let my boyfriend see!
I plucked up the courage to see my doctor about it and i ended up leaving the doctors surgery in tears because they didnt seem to understand, they just said basically thats how i am and i can't do anything about it!
I would love to have surgery but i dont know how i can on the NHS, im still in college and have a part time job but i would never be able to afford to pay the price of getting it done privately!
How can i get it done on the nhs if my doctor wont help me?
Please help,
Thankyou x
