It’s not geographical tongue.
I have the same ring on my tongue and I am one that avoids the doctor because I have no insurance. But I do plan to have it checked soon. I do suspect candida/yeast/fungus infection. This seems to affect the genitals and mouth. But the red ring seems different that candida in the mouth. I hope to find out soon.
I just went in for a 6 month check-up in the doctor said he's found something similar underneath the my tongue and I didn't even know it was there. I just went and saw the oral surgeon and they're going to observe me for two weeks and then come back in and see if it goes away he just told me to rinse my mouth with salt water and brush like normal.
That's exactly how mine is. It's really annoying and Im trying to find something that can remove it for it not to come back
It is not, I repeat, not geographic tongue, not even.
Hi! Did you find out what it was? What did your Dr. tell you?
My son has a red rinf on his tongue too. ER said it was a virus. It would go away in 2-3 weeks. That was 6 weeks ago and he still has it.
This is correct.
I have had this happen occasionally.
*(the first time was in 2002, when my Wife and I were in S.Korea.
It is like an allergic reaction to acidic fruits&veggies. My reaction originally came, after eating a bunch of raw baby tomatoes. *(I thought it may have been a reaction, due to pesticides... and this was BEFORE Google, or internet searches/photos... so it was quite worrisome)
BUT it goes away...
(May be reoccurring)
I get rings under my tongue. They show up in the evening. They start out small, enlarge and are gone by morning. They are white ringed and bright red in the middle. I've had them for years and figured its a form of Candida. I have dentures and use inhalers. Does anyone else have this condition?
I have the same thing! What is it?
I figured it out! I'm not a Dr. I'm actually a chef, but anyway, my wife gets them everytime she eats to many sour patch kids, sour + sweet + citrus = weird
painful tounge thingys. You can actually damage your taste buds by overloading them with to much acidity in food.Same way to much yeast will cause thrush. Taste buds are extremely sensitive to the sour sugar and the artificial citrus and sweeteners in foods, especially candy. That's also why they are so delicious, but everything in moderation. Cut back on the sour citrus sweets and you should notice it stay away. Hope this helped some people.

It’s not geographical tongue, symptoms and appearance are completely different. I have had both. Not 100% sure what it is but I know it’s not geographical tongue. Anytime I look something up on this it says hsv1?
