Don't they have leash laws where you live?
They didn't when I was a kid riding a bicycle all the time and there was a dog that always chased me at a certain spot I passed nearly every day. I finally began carrying a water pistol filled with water and ammonia. When you hit 'em in the face with that they back off and after a few times they remember to leave you alone.

Hey there dear friend! I know exactly what you mean. Luckily, you didn’t end up in the hospital as I did when something similar happened to me. I always run in the park nearby, and I never worried about a thing. But, the same route everyday became a bit boring to me, and that morning I decided to try the riverbank which is even closer to me. I was a bit frightened though, and I should have listened to my instinct. I knew a friend of mine walks the dog there every morning, and I knew that many others have the same habit. So, after just five minutes of running I was looking in the eyes of a freely wondering pit bull terrier, and when the jerk of his owner showed up it was already to late – he was holding my ankle with his teeth and I was dying of fear and pain. I ended up in hospital, and sued him afterwards of course.
