Hi. I am 18 years of age and going in for postierior cervical surgery on my neck on the 26th of this month.. This surgery is where my surgeon is going to fuse C2 - C7,, this is due to compression of the spine.. I am really scared about having it done.. Can anyone reassure me please ?????? xx
I know that you are worried but this type of surgery is done a lot, and the doctors will be able to handle it and take care of you. The chances something will go wrong is very low, so please be aware of that. Can you give us an update on how you're doing post-surgery?
Hi Tiffany, its really scary and if you weren't scared you wouldn't be normal. Its normal to be scared. I've had one big surgery and am going in next wednesday for another, so i will have 4 levels fused. I think you wil find that at first you will feel miserable, but as time goes on, you will feel so much better because the pain in the extremities, the myelopathy (weakness etc) all that will go away, let alone hopefully most of the neck pain. Feel free to email or personal message me if you want to chat about it and if you need someone who's been there to cheer you up. Or you can post here too. Hang in there, I'm sure you have a great dr and it will go fine. When you feel up to it let us know how it went ok?
