i've been reading the comments regarding the surgery and post surgery regarding hammer toes... well i am scheduled to have surgery in 6 days. i don't have bunions but i do have hammertoes.. every toe is slightly bent and has a corn from rubbing against shoes. fortunately the corn is soft and blends in with my skin however, it is discolored. i am an african american and my toes look to have light spots on them where the corn under the skin lies. My doctor plans to break the bones of my toes that are bent and cut out the corn, stitching it up cosmetically and we shall see how it all comes together... literally.

i don't really have a choice because i don't expose my feet to anyone except the Dr... I don't want to live like that so I'm glad there is an option for my feet. They will not look as pretty as they did before they started to bend but at least i believe i'll be able to show my feet without fear from the embarassment of having deformed toes.

wish me luck!

How did the arthroplasty surgery go? I am scheduled to have mine in a week. I wondered how you have healed and whether you think the operation was worth it?
