Trazodone is pale in comparison to Seroquel.
Although I was taken off Seroquel because of acute pancreatic attacks. I would, if possible, go back to Seroquel if not for the side effects . Trazodone just doesn't do the job of Seroquel for sleep.

I REALLY THINK THIS DRUG (SEROUEL) SHOULD BE BANNED.

OR

Used ONLY for psychosis

AND

NEVER used for Insomnia

IMO the benzos are safer. (IMO they are predictable) and don't have the potential to cause diabetes / pancreatitis, unhealthy weight gain, cardiac arrhythmias, lethargy, no energy, tardive dyskinesias, dementia (as commonly as seroquel)
etc.

Trazadone does not do the same job but it is predictable, and IMO far safer than seroquel (which would or would not knock me out (irregardless of dose) and when I got up due to arrhythmias, I would almost fall over at times.)

I started out on the 50mg tablets after a friend past and I couldn't sleep. My tolerance built but yes I felt great getting sleep! I ended up after 3yrs getting up to 200mg for about a year and only for a short time got up to 400mg. I then thought about children and wanted to get off the meds. Its been my 4th night cold turkey! The first 3 nights I got maybe 4hrs sleep total off and on through the 3 nights. The 4th night which was last night I slept in about 2hrs at a time but off and on all night. My flu like symptoms I had horribly at first have seemed to tapper off a little today! The only thing that I have found to help me is Xanax. It has helped my body chills and makes my body feel a little more relaxed. If anyone has been through this and has any input I'd love it. Is this going to keep tapering off or how long will these symptoms last?

I've been online looking to see if I'm the only one who was on Seraqual for just and have not taken it for three weeks but side effects won't go away. They include jerking muscles about 20 times a day constant trembling of my hands, shooting pains along with vivid rocket type noises in my head causing me to bolt up out of what little sleep I get. I also have hallucinations that are scary and also waking me up. This all started with the Seraqual anybody else out have any of this?????

I am on my second day off of seroquel, I experienced a traumatic event and my doc put me on seroquel 50mg to sleep with lexapro 10mg and clonazepam 1mg as needed.
This was 7 months ago and its been 7 months of struggling with do i get off this stuff..watching my weight gain and turninging into a slug was no picnic. Docs answer is "Im doing well" I dont think so as I am losing myself.
1 month ago I dropped the lexapro after reading that i should split it, I dropped to 7.5mg then to 5mg etc and stopped, i was uunwell but functioning. At the same time I switched from clonazepam to diazepam and have tapered down to 2 mg of diazepam. I never took the 50mg of seroquel as prescribed as 25mg was enough to knock me out so I split the pills for a few days and have stopped for 2 days. I have a weird electric shock type feeling bt I am coping, slept last night off and on..I am really hoping that my low dose will make this bearable, I will NEVER take this again, as soon as this settles the diazepam goes next.. I just want to be free.

I wish you all relief...

It took me 3 moths to get off 200mg of serequel. So worth it. I went through all the sideaffects, especially feeling like I was dying, literally.

5 days no Seroquel and feeling baaaaaddd. My mind is racing..I dont think I have had and held 1 clear thought in 24 hours..I have tried to stay busy but I stay busy with about 20 things!! Feeling shakey a feeling like I just want to 'shake' or 'move' my arms and legs constantly.. Feeling anxiety...I was given Seroquel for sleep ..however before Seroquel, I was on Zanax for 19 yrs for GAD and quit that cold turkey..which, by the way almost killed me!! I had ALL of the withdrawal symtomsfor 4 days and had a seizure...but then after a total of 6 days I was free of zanax which I totally LOVED and became totally dependant on for every situation in my life...however, I did not realize what a "benzzo-head" I had become! Annnywaayy..now this Seroquel thing has become the new demon...I just need to hear/ or know from other people how long their experience has in withdrawing and does sleep ever return?? However, I was an extreme insomniac before Seroquel...is there a good, safe alternative...AAccckk going crazy!! my thoughts are racing OUT OF CONTROL!!

8 days off seroquel, what a gross 8 days it has been. Sleep was non existent for the first few days, now I am able to get to sleep at around 4am and sleep for 6 hours or so which I am grateful for. The most annoying symptom I am having is the itching all over. I woke this morning and had scratched my skin up during the night so am going to head to the drugstore and get benadryl for allergies and itching it also has the side effect of drowsiness which is a bonus in my current state.
The confusion for me is what exactly am i withdrawing from as I dropped lexapro a month ago after a quick taper, now dropped seroquel and am almost off of diazepam after a quick taper, i think my body is reeling from it all but i am not going back.
I have a feeling the most of my agony revolves around the tapering of the benzo I am on, lexapro and seroquel are certainly no picnic but IMO benzodiazepines are their own special form of hell.
Somthings i have tried: Hylands homeopathic calms forte, insomnia relief and nerve tonic = all useless. Melatonin time release from natrol actually revved me up and made me feel manic at 4am the other night so nothing good there. I have little hope in alternative meds to ease this, just hoping the benadryl helps me not tear my skin off.
My anxety is not as awful as the last week but then again I was put on this drug to sleep so am suffering the reverse coming off of it with struggling to sleep.
The good: despite being overtired I feel less groggy than I have for months on this stuff.
