You are so right. I can't take decongestants for the very reasons you mentioned-fast pulse and high blood pressure.

I got a sinus infection about 5 days ago and that is when my blood pressure went up and stayed up, but the doc told me not to worry too much because it was up a little. Since I haven't taken decongestants for a long time I didn't have the fast pulse as before, just high blood pressure. I'm taking Claritin (no decongestant) and I know that don't raise my blood pressure which only leaves the sinus infection.

Thanks for ur reply. I am a 32 yr old male..I also have been experiencing hypertension since my sinuses are terribly blocked since past 2 years. I also have several nasal polyps.Hence my blood pressure is consistently about 140/90. Is it safe to assume and confirm that blocked sinuses and nasal polyps are the root cause of elevated blood pressure?

I have been consistently seeing high blood pressure since past 3 years in spite of the right diet and exercise.
However,I realized this year that my blocked sinuses and extensive nasal polyps are the culprit..

I have a similar issue, the doctor put me on 3 weeks of Doxycycline and will monitor my pressure. Most likely it will be normal at the end of treatment of antibiotics.

if I can't take any decongestants to relieve my severely stuffed nose then what can I take that actually works? I did try Advil/Sinus but got scared when I had a banger of a headache. I've been doing nasal irrigation 2x a day which helps for a couple of hours then stuffed up again. Sleeping is non existent. Flonase is ineffective too. I'm 63 female and BP is 90/130 and an on a generic bp med.

I have chronic sinutitis, and have had sinus surgery in the past. I also have been diagnosed with high BP, and put on meds for it. I started back on my sinus saline rinse and had good results. I am much better and so is my Bp. I am saving the use of antibotics for a time when I have to have them. I suggest you use distilled water only to keep the throat from burning.
