smoking marijuana after pancreatitis

I am recovering from Pancreatitis as well. I was in the hospital for 94 days with acute Pancreatitis from extreme high triglyceride levels which led to renal and respiratory failure. Since I was in the hospital for this extended period of time I had the chance to ask this question to my gastroenterologist. He said that smoking weed would not have an adverse effect on my body. Maybe that changes from person to person, but mine was pretty bad I think and I'm smoking without any bad effects...

My daughter has just found out at 28 with 2 small babies she has pancreatic cancer.she doesn't drink or smoke or use drugs.and wants nothing more than to live. Is that not enough for you. Go and take an E and a few pints and smoke ya brains out .There for saving money for research for people who deserve help.

Hello I my self have pancreatic divisum and it's caused me a lot of issues I've been dealing with pancreatitis four years . I first found out when I 22 and was coming back from a college party drank heavily and become really sick developed a cyst on my pancreas . Hospitalized for a week and couldn't eat it was bad. Again developed in 2013/2014 while I was pregnant and was only treated by IV and they tried to give me pain meds like Percocet . I was then while pregnant operated slightly on where my pancreas is and a external drain was applied . I couldn't shower most of my pregnancy had to cover the site of the drain that helped drain the 8 clean cyst I had . I had to go on leave at my job early not only because of being pregnant but because I couldn't work with a huge bulb of pancreas juices hanging outside of my body and had to hide it in my clothes .i delivered my baby with the drain in and it added to the pain of having pushing a baby out . After I had the baby my doctors kept the drain in for a couple more months I developed a bad staph infection and they soon pulled the drain . To drain the cyst they finally put a stent in my pancreas .

Here it is 2017 I've continued to drink and smoke
Marijuana heavily edibles infused food . I've recently stopped drinking fully ! And realized that it is not worth it still smoke
Marijuana but it's rare actually helps with my pain it seems .
I now had a break in my pancreas wall and a wire from the needle they used the aspirated the cyst I had on my pancreas from the stent in 2014 . The wire is where this cyst keeps forming and doctors are wanting to do surgery to prevent future flare ups I'm very scared and undecided. The same cyst is now 5 cm and I knew them from being hospitalized about two weeks ago and a CT scan . Besides hospital bills and pain I have really quit the drinking the goes with partying . Pancreatic sucks . The pancreatic divisum I was told was very rare and tends to be in the Caribbean / Hispanic cultures .

Smoking cigarettes isn't the second worst thing you can do lol... Smoking just slows the blood flow to all of your organs, it's no where's close to drinking. I smoke cigarettes and weed everyday and it's not causing my pancreas to flair up

After being in over 6 different hospitals in 5 months of dealing with both pancreatitis and even necrotizing pancreatitis, I wanted to see what would happen if I started smoking weed again, yesterday was the first day I tried it after being sick and in the hospital. honestly I was very afraid cause I didn't want to have pain but it actually helped me sleep (something that four different kinds of meds won't do) and I actually got an appetite also. As long as you start off slow, at least for me, it didn't cause any pain. P.S this was the page I was reading when I googled if smoking weed would hurt me and the only reason why I decided to try it was cause people on here have gone through what I had and there didn't seem to be any real negative affects.

Okay, the stunning amount of stupidity and self damage displayed on this page is truly shocking. You f*****g ungrateful fools. I was just diagnosed with relatively mild pancreatitis and have smoked a stunning amount of cannabis products in my life and consumed a decent amount of red wine. Excessive consumption of cannabinoids over the long term CAN cause pancreatitis. I’m 31. I eat very well and am extremely active. I will be quitting alcohol entirely, forever. I will discontinue cannabis consumption entirely for the next three months and reintroduce a tiny amount after that period once a week. If I feel okay, I may or may not continue with it once a week. My diet will be extremely low fat henceforth, leaning heavily on phytonutrient and antioxidant rich fruit and veg, fibrous carbs and very lean meats. You have one pancreas, and unlike the liver, It does NOT heal itself.
Take control of your lives or shut your mouths and go drink and smoke yourselves to death. Marcus, you’re such an as****e. Your poor mother.

/Wow, you really want to f**k with your health now don't you? How about stopping all drugs , ever think of that? Gettiing "high" on life and seeing what truly positive things you can bring about for yourself and others.

I’ve had it 22 times. Should have quit when they said to but finally no smoking or drinking. Now it’s chronic. Hurts all the time so do what the docs say before your me.

I was diagnosed with alcohol induced pancreatitis in December and I was an average marijuana smoker. After my hospital visit I kept smoking and I found that it helps me eat and takes the pain away. As for cigarettes I was never a smoker but I did vape nic and noticed pain would occur more so I quit the nic. I haven't experimented with any drugs since I was diagnosed. I was on cocaine and alcohol the night before I had my flare up so I'm not completely sure on the subject of recreational drugs. Stay strong everyone!

The reason why many people feel that smoking weed exacerbates their pancreatic symptoms (as do I myself; having smoked weed pretty much daily for over 2 decades until my pancreas problems started), is mainly due to inhalation practices and smoke ending up bypassing the lungs and sitting inside the stomach; where it can wreak havoc.
