Just plugging along ... only race now is with Father Time and I'm going down swinging. First Social Security check coming next month. 8O
On course for about 1,600 miles this year. Unusual consistent heat and humidity this year have really made some treks difficult, but I'm still having fun. :D

real "iffY". trying to get that mileage back up without affecting the speed. Having trouble finding the middle ground. I know I need to push the upper and lower ends. I've managed to get the low end slower, but the upper end isn't getting faster :x
Running is slowly turning for the better. Ran more, marginal decrease in 5K PR.
Run even more, training looks good, race on Aug 27, hoping for 20:59 or better! (5K)

Some weeks I'm "on", some weeks I'm "off".
I need to get my head into it and commit to another race.
That will keep me "on" until then.
I have been working with my speed this summer and I've definitely gotten faster than I had been. I've done more with that than my distance endurance.

I dunno, i'd run alot more if it werent for the weather, but im keeping up a 20 mile week...hopefully.
I'm pretty happy with where i'm at right now. I'm running 20+ miles per week. Tendonitis seems to be gone. It's HOT and humid though. I'm running half my runs on a treadmill. Lugging a camelbak along is not always fun.
I took my resting heart rate today and found it was at 56 which is a 5bmp drop from last time I measured.
I still have a ton of weight to lose before calling myself a runner, but I'm on target. Still running dog slow in base building mode. (why is it called dog slow, them suckers run pretty quick)

20 per week? You sure sound like a runner to me. Maybe I missed the part where a certain target weight is required to qualify.
:1:
You're a runner because you run and because you desire to do so.

My running's been all over the place. Between vacation, my daughter getting sick (twice), and being trapped in Toronto's Pearson Intl Airport for 12 hours (with my sick 14mo daughter), I haven't been running a lot.
My foot has really been bothering me now that I'm back into it. I keep thinking neuroma, but can't find anything at the meta heads. Then I find out that I'm a moderate freak -- I pronate when I walk, but am completely neutral when I run. So running in stablility shoes for 2 years probably is what caused the foot pain.... :argh:
So now I've got new shoes and I'm back to about 12-15mpw, and the heat comes back. Today's forecast: 33C, near 45C with the humidity. That works to nearly 115F.
Never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait until summer's over....

thanks for the encouragement! It wasn't too long ago i was running about 12 miles/ week, but the addded mileage has really helped, so did some reading (posts on here and a couple of books).
So far so good. I think the most important part is i'm enjoying it, and i guess that's why we all do it.

I echo the earlier comments, I can't wait for the fall.
This is my first summer doing alot of running (for me, that is) and even when I started last year we had a really unseasonably cool summer.
Races have been either really hot hot sun or super humid. One thing, it's slowing me down, which is good since I have had a tendency to train too fast.
I'm still trying to find a good pace for me for different training sessions, but its starting to come. I need to balance thinking about what I'm doing with not thinking about it at all.
Kinda Zen, huh?!

Don't mention it...............................................................
My training has SUCKED lately due to problematic plantar fasciitis! Ran 3 time during july and nothing this month.
Geez, Bill, I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope you get healed up and back on the road soon.
Good luck!!
