I had my surgery almost 2and1/2 months ago. I have more pain then before the surgery as mine was done mainly to correct sleep apnea. But it ways feels like something is stuck on the back off left side of my throat. The pain has increased as I said earlier. And ear pain usually accompanies it. My surgeon did a culture and all came back negative. But the pain continues. What else is ther to do?

Never ever get a tonsillectomy. It does not work. You can still get tonsillitis and tonsils can grow back. This is a fact it happened to me.Unfortunately my niece had her tonsils removed 8 months ago.She has been sicker in the last 8 months than she was before removal. She too suffers frequently with sore thoarts still and now suffers from migraine due to op.The op left her with many side effects developed a lisp, has constant cold hands and feet, deadly pale all the time, dry mouth due to salivary gland damage during op,teeth has yellowed due to dry mouth, more fatigued than before op,nightmares, constant dry thoart, constantly thirsty, weight gain, constantly the list goes on.Needless to say her Mum is distraught and regrets ever letting child undergo op.Operations are only required for life or death situations and tonsillitis isnt one of them.Remember some surgeons love to operate.Tonsillectomy is a totally unncessary op.A sore thoart goes after 4 days approx and sore thoart proves your immune system is working.People who had tonsils removed in 60s were more likely to get polio.I think that says it all.Would some of these surgeons removed their own kids tonsils?I truly believe some surgeons dont fully understand the role of the tonsils.ie to fight infection.Do not remove.

Never ever ever ever let your child or any of your loved ones undergo a tonsillectomty. It is truly a barbaric operation and has been proven to have limited success.I am surprised that it has not been banned.I am digusted with the surgeon that reccomended my childs op.She has been left with a number of side effects for life for ex,a lisp, constant dry thoart, dry mouth which has discoloured her teeth, still gets sore thoarts so clearly doesnt work, anasethic effected her memory and school work, nightmares since op,severe pain for 1 month post op.Needless to say I her Mum is absolutely disgusted with the surgeon.Hopeto never set foot in a doctors surgery again.Tonsillitis wont harm your child but a tonsillectomy will.

It might just be an infection. With the fever and continuous pain it's common to have a simple infection they didn't catch at the first checkup. Maybe make another appointment and ask your doctor

I had the same experience with my child. She ended up with daily migraines due to op.She cries with the pain and says tonsillitis was childs play compared to headaches.I could wring the consultants neck.I am quite sure he knew of this side effect but she was just an opportunity to operate.Disgusted.

Hi, I had a tonsillectomy a month ago and the wounds have healed but I have a scratchy, tight feeling in my throat as if something was stuck. I had been taking garlic cloves to prevent infection while my wounds were healing and I feel as if they damaged my throat. I also see the remaining tonsil tissue large and inflamed, as if it was growing. I also have a red bump at the back of my throat which had been there before the surgery but it had not been visible due to the overgrown uvula.

Hi,

Did these issues ever go away? If so, how long did it take and did you get any medication?

I am so desperate. I had my tonsils out three weeks ago and I have a constant chocking feeling in the back of my throat as well as swelling and pain. Especially when I talk.

Would appreciate any advice!

Thanks.
