I had much tonsillectomy March 30th today is June 25th.. I still feel occasional pain & my glands are still swollen. Doctor said as long as the glands don't get bigger everything is fine, it takes up to a full year to fully recover so some complications are normal! Don't feel alone!

I'm wondering if you suffer from chronic mono or Epstein Barr virus. I had a very similar series of problems.

Hi I'm Katie and I'm also 23. I know you posted this a year ago but I'm hoping you found some answers. I have the exact same thing. It's been three months sense my surgery and I'm still having pain and swelling in my throat and it feels like a constant pressure and I feel tired and like c**p just like I did when I had tonsils. I keep going back to my ent and he makes it seem like I'm crazy and nothing is wrong and won't do anything to help. I hate the doctor and would never even go if it wasn't painful and persistent. Any answers would help a ton

It been almost 6 weeks and I got problems. I have acid reflux and a digestive system that took 12 hours to digeat half of scrambled eggs and toast. I get constipated easy. I am trying like ginger. And papaya pills to.help with digestion. And I still have throat pains and stomach pains. Seems like when tonsil pains go down. Stomach pains go down. But I got severe anxiety and ocd. So wonder if that hurts the recovery process.

You don't know what you are talking about assuming that we had a tonsilectomy just because we had a sore throat a few times is ridiculous. I've been constantly having back to back viruses for a year and have had sore throats virtually everyday since I had tonsilitis when I was 12. Most people do it as a last resort to try to get better, that was certainly why I had it done. Yes there are possibly factors involved that doctors may not want to admit which mean not everyone is cured but it certainly has helped all my friends who have had the procedure done.

I had my tonsils out 3 weeks ago and doctors said it’s healing well. Reason I had the tonsils out was that I had a sore neck on the right side where my submandibular gland is and down my neck and I was on 6 bouts of antibiotics in 3 months. Also my tonsils were enlarged and had ulcer like circles on them. Straight after the surgery the lump in my neck where the submandibular gland is went down but came back about a week later and is still there. I did a CT scan a week before the surgery and it was all clear. Also did a full blood test 2 and a half weeks after surgery and it’s all clear as well. I’ve seen 3 doctors and none of them seem to know why the gland is swollen. The specialist said to wait until I’m healed from surgery to see if the swelling goes down but I’m worried I have cancer in that gland as it’s getting bigger. I also read that submandibular cancer doesn’t show up in a normal blood test. I would need to get a biopsy done. Doctors didn’t seem to think I needed one. This is so frustrating as I’m so worried about the lump and I’m sick of the pain and numbness where the lump is as well. The pain is constant and very frustrating. Anyone else has any issues with glands being swollen after tonsillectomy?
