Hi I am four and a half months on and can resonate with all the above. I have the haemorrhaging 4 times to and got readmitted to hospital over night twice and a month off work with phased hours after that. Even the ENT said I'd had a hard time with recovery in his final letter.

I can't remember exactly but had the stuck in the throat issue - and then it happened for real with chips, the hot fat variety and had to cough it up at lunch in the canteen at work. Lucky there was no-one else there then. I went straight down with the second week I got back to work with snow and ice around as well. Horrible.

Then a couple of months in I had the feeling that stitches were back in the base of my tongue. That went away eventually however the back of my tongue still hurts, not quite right at the bse but the bit thats right near where the tonsils were. I have stress bumps at the back which have been better now as well but it also feels like my tongue is hitting my wisdom teeth and making it more painful where as before the tonsils were in the way I also bumps on the roof of my mouth in the front right behind my front teeth.

I also had thrush after having three weeks worth of antibiotics. One doctor diagnosed it and when I went back because I still had a yellow tongue but I got the all clear.then I went back because my tongue still hurt, doctor said no thrush present. Apparently the yellow tongue is just part of healing from the tonsillectomy.

I had a trip to the dentist today,. All is well and all bumps OK as well. THe back of my tongue still hurts but it is bearable especially after using Cordosyl mouthwash and can also cause yellow tongue which I have been using religiously since the hospital issue stuff ran out. I am trying to ween myself of it, but haven't quite got there.I just picked up another cold but that was from a super stressed week at work last week and nothing to do with the tonsillectomy but doesn't half feel weird with it though.

It is now just going to be a matter of time. I have seen over a dozen doctors in the last few months and all of them have been understanding even the one that said that I didn't have thrush even though she obviously thought iws a bit of a waste of time but i did let her down gently by saying that is the first time someone said that everything is OK in the last few months so i hope it is now.

I had my tonsillectomy in March 5, 2018, (Almost 4 months ago), and I just wanted to say that it has been the worse 4 months of my life. I started having pain in my throat about 2 months prior to surgery though. I have been experiencing pain on the left side of my throat every single day, from the moment I wake up, to when I go to sleep. Sometimes I feel a very sharp pain on the back of my throat. Almost like I am being stabbed with with a knife or something. Left ear usually hurts at night as well. Even tongue does hurt sometimes. I am sick and tired of living like this. MRI came back clear. My doctor wants me to go back in 6 weeks for further testing, which I find very hard, since I just can handle the pain anymore. I have not had a CT or X-Ray done yet, to see if it could be something else. I am just very frustrated and depressed. I sometimes have a feeling that this has nothing to do with the surgery, but the doctors are not really helping me. It does not appear that I have any issues when they look at my throat and tongue. Everything looks healthy from the outside. Has anyone had similar issues and finally got better with time?

I am 2.months out and have a.cough and feel as though something is in the back of my throat. It seems like my throat has changed from an arch looking to non arching. I'm told my cough is due to allergies. I had the surgery because I had one white dot on each tonsil. Thought cough would go away, but no. There is something else causing it. Just frustrated.

I know this was posted forever ago but! I have the same sandpaper feeling and everything. I suffer with acid reflux but take strong medication for it. Every time I see my doctor he says everything is normal and good so!

I’ve had such similar issues and it’s so hard because if it looks fine they say you’re fine but you know something is off because being in pain all the time isn’t normal! I hope you figured it out

You guys have been very helpful as I was desperately looking for months for information about post tonsillectomy. I had my surgery last December 2019 and I wasn’t aware about post surgery effects. I had mine take out due to tonsil stones and also my Mom had been treated for tonsil cancer so I thought I am at high risk too if I don’t have mine taken out after two doctors already recommended to have the surgery. It has been 3 months now that I on recovery but I am still having bad dry throat and also it has affected my voice when I sing (I kept joking to my sister that I would sue my doctor for ruining my singing voice as the surgeon was her client/friend whom she referred to me, she works in the court btw). On top of that, I kept getting sick easily by being exposed to sick people normally by being in long queue to visit my Doctor at his clinic. Now with the Covid19 around, I am even afraid to go to my Doctor’s clinic because they might say I might have the virus and needed quarantine. I did self quarantine or isolation for nearly a month last January to February when I got sick w the flu and the news about Novel Corona virus had just been surfacing. Just the worst time ever to have the chronic bad dry throat and cough.
