I know this is a year ago but I would like to know if it ever got better. I kind of believe what the one person said on here about scar tissue and the tightness it being dry trying to still heal but it does bother me n I'm so ready for my throat to be completely healed. I had my surgery almost two months ago n Im 51 and a diabetic, so I thought me being a diabetic also slowed my healing. I had a friend of mine who had it done and she told me that one day I'll be going about my day and I'm gonna realize omg, my sore throat is gone n I so hope that's gonna be the case, it can't come soon enough.

PlEASE,PLEASE tell me if you ever got better or if you got it fixed and How it was fixed if so. I'm exactly where you were n exactly 3 Months since my Tonsillectomy. I Desperately need help n I've been to my Dr twice but I almost went to Emergency Room last night from not being able to swallow but I got a small scar tissue but looks like maybe phelm or either its infected. Any Information Would Be A Miracle. Feeling very hopeless. Paddy

I am in the exact same boat. I got my tonsils, adenoids, and turbinates out on 11/29/16 and I am still in pain. I went back to my doctor 3 times now and he's made me feel crazy for still being in pain. I am SO glad to find a group of people who are feeling the same thing as me. My doctor told me that out of the thousands of surgeries that he does like this that I'm the only one that is having these issues so it made me feel awful. I am having the tightness in the back of my throat and it almost hurts to swallow. Food tastes different. I am so upset my taste buds have been affected by this as well. When I eat it feels like food gets caught in the back of my throat. I felt like my recovery was a lot worse than other people and now it is very slow to completely heal. I would love to hear from anyone who felt this same way and has overcome it. Please share!

Well, I'm sitting here surfing the Internet for possible causes and remedies for my STILL sore throat 4 months after my tonsillectomy surgery (at the age of 41) and see that I'm not the only one! Every thing you described is EXACTLY what I have going on. They did a CT scan but didn't find anything and I go in next month for a possible throat scope and to talk about what's going on. They seem to think it's just scar tissue. Hope you've managed to get some relief since you posted!

I'm glad I found this thread too. It's March and I had my tonsils removed in December. My throat is always dry and bothering me now. Sometimes I feel like I have to drink a lot to remove a nagging thing in my throat that always bothers me. Feels like there is something in there. I also always seems to get a runny nose and feel a little nasal. Next step is seeing an allergist.

I had a tonsillectomy in January and honestly I'm not sure how much it's helped. When I had my tonsils out after a few days I had a really bad infection which then led to bleeding after about a week and I threw up blood clots. I eventually recovered after about a month of barely eating anything because of the pain and kept loosing my voice which sucks as I'm currently studying for a vocal singing course. After about 2 months, I honestly felt as though I was getting tonsillitis again (headache, weak muscles, sore throat, I actually had white spots on the back of my throat, ear ache etc). Anyways this went away and then came back after a few weeks just like when I used to always get tonsillitis every few weeks.
And now for the past 3 weeks (almost 4 months on) I kept losing my voice on & off (not sure if the singing is making it worse but I really don't want to quit my course so close to the end), feel very fatigued, generally ill and have a sore throat (no white spots now though). I haven't been to my doctors because I don't want them to think I'm being crazy by saying I feel like I have tonsillitis with no tonsils. Can anyone offer any advice?

Hi revolutionite, I just had my tonsils taken out on Feb 3, 2017 at the age of 52 and I'm having the exact same symptoms. My ENT doctor is telling me the same thing. He have given me steroids and it didn't work, so now he's telling me to give it 3 more months but I'm making me appointment to see someone else outside his office. This is the worst mess that I ever had to deal with in my life. I pray that we both get our healing real soon.
