A week ago my doctor said i have post partum thyrotoxiosis, (an over active thyroid). My main symptoms are anxiety, tiredness, palpitations and a lump in my throat. Since i have seen my doctor tho, my tongue feels absalutely sore, it doesnt have sores on it, but it feels over worked like ive been licking stamps all day. (only way i can describe it). Sometimes my jaw gets sore too. I would like to know if this is a symptom of the thyroid or if i should go back and see the doctor
Hi eboneezer.
My friend has been diagnosed with post partum thyrotoxicosis two years ago. She had same symptoms as you have, i.e. she was anxious, always tired, she had palpitations as well and she developed lump in her throat. She also had another significant symptom which could be a sign of thyrotoxicosis. Her eyes were bulging., which was quite unpleasant for her and she was depressed because of her look.
However, I don't remember that she had painful or sore tongue, or painful jaw either. It looks like some sort of infection to me. For example tonsillitis due to thyrotoxicosis or medications you've used as a treatment. I would check with my doctor, if I were you. Because it coul be connectd with your thyroid, but it could also be a problem for itself, as I already said a bacterial or viral infection, as a response of your weakened immune system.

Eboneezer I have exactly all these symptoms - starts in the afternoon and lasts all day then. I somtimes get tongue blisters too, difficulty breathing. Don't know what to do..it has been happening every day for 3 years.
Have you figured out why your tongue is sore or tired. I’ve been dealing with this for about 10 months now. Sometimes my tongue feels so overworked I don’t even know how to relax it. And my jaw also goes through periods of soreness. The doctors don’t even have a clue what I’m trying to explain.
