Hello, I am a medical student who is 21 years old and I am interested in effectiveness of spinal epidural injections. Is there a specialist who is willing to speak about this subject? I hope that there will be someone who would like to help to enthusiastic person. I will be happy with every response. Thank you in advance.
Hi there. You are right, I am always happy to help a future colleague out. Well for the beginning, the diagnosis is the most important thing. For instance, epidural corticosteroid injections are great for relieving pain for people who suffer from spinal radiculopathies which is caused by disc herniation. But you know what, the cases where only one dose is enough is rare. The patients will probably have to receive another dose afterwards. Lets look at these injections from another perspective. They don't treat spinal stenosis very well and therefore they are ineffective in that case. I hope that I made some things clear here.
