I am an asian male,60 yrs leading a very active outdoor life. No history of drugs, steroids or alcohol.7years ago, after mri due to severe back pain, vertebroplasty done on compressed vertebrae.a mth later, procedure repeated due to another crack in an adjoining vertebra.
The years that followed have been filled with pain.ribs ache.a hip crack(hip replacement)and now knees and ankles are killing-like nals are being hammered into the ankle when i walk.
Thousands of tests have been done but we cant find the reason that my bones are so severly osteoporotic and also that 14mths of the parathyroid hormone, terrifrac, has not improved it.
My kappa light chain is slightly high but the kappa/lambda ratio is clear. My hormones, other levels are all in range, only my esinophils are always high(maybe due to living on a farm,or that I am prone to allergies)
Does anyone hve any ideas as to what could be wrong?
We are currently looking for bone cancers, but earlier tests have all been clear.
Regards.
Hi everyone. We have found a growth around the thymic region which may be producing PTH or a PTH like substance.
We are cautious in calling it an ectopic parathyroid adenoma due to the fact that PTH levels in frequent blood tests are perfectly normal, srum calcium levels are mildly elevated though-(9-10)
Systemic B showed uptake but FNAC inconclusive leaving us with no option but surgery. Concern being that the delayed healing of bones may be a problem post surgery.
Will update again, hopefully with happier news once surgery is over.
