Almost 15 weeks ago I stepped on a toy when walking across the living room.  I stepped on it with my right foot, slid and must have jammed my toes of my left foot into the ground while trying to catch myself.  I/t all happened VERY fast.

I went to Urgent Care (med center, NOT an ER) and was told I sprained my foot very badly and broke my middle toe.

I went to my usual podiatrist and he wrapped my foot and eventually ended up doing an Open Reduction and Internal fixation of my left middle toe (Typically broken toes don't require surgery)

Well the entire time through all my xrays the podiatrist had funny feelings about my mid foot area.  It never looked really bad on the xrays, but didn't look right.

Well last Thursday I had a CAT scan of my foot and low and behold my Lisfranc joint is messed up.

My podiatrist referred me to a foot and ankle doc that deals more with this area, and I guess we are going to go for a fusion of my Lisfranc joint here in the next month.

I'm not sure which metatarsals or whatnot will be involved yet.

I'm just at my wits end cause this happened January 19th.  I finally had gotten the pin out of my toe, and started hobbling with my cane, when now I have the news that I'm going to be another 6-12 weeks in just the healing from the surgery (6 NWB and 6 in a boot) and then 4-6 months in healing before I'm "100percent" or as close as I'll ever get.

I'm 31 years old, and was curious as to what it is like to walk on a fused joint.  Will I have a limp?  How long did it take to adjust to it?

I was just getting to the point in my life where I was talking exercising seriously so I could start to lose weight.  I have three young kids (2, 4, and 8) And had MAYBE hoped to have another.

How will this effect my day to day life?  Will I be able to exercise again?    Will there be any issues in getting pregnant should I choose that?

As I said this has already been 15wks in the making and now starting from square one is frustrating but on the other hand I was worried if the duck walking painful limp was as good as it was going to get.

So just coming here to get an idea of what else I have in store for me.
