Which would be a better program for getting off a 5 month addiction to heroin: suboxene or methodone? Please explain why.
You may agree to disagree with me on this, but i will try any way.
This is strictly my opinion.
Seeing that you have only been on heroin for 5 months, have you considered not taking anything at all?
My daughter is a heroin addict. She has been for at least 3 years that i know of. She has been in and out of jail many times and has detoxed behind bars. The time before this, when she was arrested, i asked the jail to please let her have her suboxone, which i thought she was taking, and finding out later that she had lied to me about taking that. I was so scared that she would get sick not being able to take her meds.
I was told from the jail that do not care that my child is a junkie, they will not give her anything to help and they did not care that it was prescribed by her Doctor. I was also told the only thing that they would provide her with was a bucket to puke in.
She was forced to detox, cold turkey. It took 3 to 4 days before she started to feel better.
Apparently, all those awful sick painful days of detox did not phase her. She got out of jail and went right back at it. She is in jail again, as we speak. 5 weeks after the last arrest.
Why don't you give it some thought? 5 months of abuse is not a long time. It takes 4 days and you will feel better. After that, you can maintain your sobriety by going to treatment programs and some counseling.
I know of people that can not function if they don't have their suboxone or methodone. My friend, who is 57 years old, has been on methodone for the last 30 years. She functions just fine, but if she does not have her methodone, she can't get out of her own way.
If you have to, lock yourself in your room or apartment, tell someone that you trust what you are doing, and try to do it on your own. I think you will feel better in the long run.
