My boyfriend is an addict (almost 15 yrs) and has tried numerous times to get off and stay off on his own but has been unsuccessful. He is now seeking help through an outpatient program. He is not currently taking sh*t loads of pills or anything hardcore(to my knowledge) but he still craves all the time, has issues with sleeping and even being social with people. All he thinks about is drugs. He has been drinking nightly after work, and smoking weed or taking pills here and there (so he says). We have always been anti suboxone as we still saw it as feeding your addiction. (He used to get suboxone off the streets to get high). Now he is all about suboxone as a means of getting sober and will even relapse just to get on it if he is not approved for it by his doctor. Obviously I am not supporting his decision. However I do not do drugs and can not even begin to pretend I understand. I am not sure if he plans on coming off suboxone at some point or always be on it. He says his counselor told him he will feel normal on it. It hasnt even been two months yet of out[patient rehab. I know it is difficult and I would never want to be in his shoes. I give him a lot of credit for going through this but I also feel like he is not putting up a strong enough fight. It is not meant to be easy. It is suppose to suck and be difficult. I see it as his way of legally supporting his drug habit. The only thing that drove him to rehab was geting into some legal trouble. He claims this time he means it when he says he wants to be clean but how many times can a person say that. We are in two different states too, so it's not like I can monitor him or really see what is going on with him. Anyway I guess I just wanted to see what other people have to offer on suboxone. Maybe it just comes down to every person and situation is different and there is no black and white.

I agree man suboxone is like f*****g gold to me. Never think about pills, I function great and feel awesome not so much hi just like myself. But you can get sick on it. When you take it your brain releases dopamine and if your on it long enough like an opiate based pill and quit talking it. Your brain doesn't release enough and makes you physically sick. My doctor explained that to me and I have experienced it. So really it's just switching from 1 addiction to another. But i'd much rather be on this than roxy 30's and oxy 80's everyday. So yes you can get sick off suboxone or subutex. Take it for 6 months and just stop and see how you fell i guarantee you'll change your mind. Suboxone are the first narcotic drugs available under the Drug Abuse Treatment Act (DATA) of 2000.Buprenorphine may cause precipitated withdrawal syndrome. The following are signs of opioid withdrawa from subutex and suboxonel: This is from a doctors website. Look it up yourself its real easy • Craving • Diarrhea • Distress/irritability • Dysphoric mood • Insomnia • Lacrimation • Mild fever • Muscle aches/cramps • Nausea or vomiting • Piloerection • Pupillary dilation • Rhinorrhea • Sweating • Yawning
