I can't remember how many foods she/he enumerated, but for me sound so many.. I would not force the liver with all that imadiately after this surgery, because the liver need time to adapting withtout gallblader ....

Hi, thanks so much for sharing your experience. I am 63 and i have three sort of big gallbladder stones, they are colesterol. I had only one atack when i was 32!!! Doctor in Lima ask me how many atacks I had. It was only one. They answer me that they will remove it only if i had three gallbladder atack in one year.
I am very careful of what I eat. When I dont follow a proper diet i would have head ache next morning. I love juicing and eat 3 hours apart. And yes full bloating most of the time.

If you don't have to have it out-that's good. I had to have mine out and it didn't even have stones. Adjustments without GB was kinda hard for me-I'm 63 too. much better to keep it if you can, but don't let it go too long if you have stones or infection. Every GB and body is different.

You might want to check to see if you have an autoimmune disorder which can affect the stomach-I think that's how I started out. Feeling much better now-good luck.

I never had an actual attack, and they removed MINE...... just felt crappy all the time, and towards the end, always nauseated. The hydascan showed it was functioning at only 18%

pls do not worry. I had my gb removed and my hernia corrected at the same time. Both were done laproscopically. I got operated on Feb 14 and Feb 21st I was on my toes , gave a wonderful interview for a much awaited job, am working now and very happy. Be positive, think positive. The surgery is very easy to cope up with. All the best !

Hi, I am so happy to have found your post. I am scheduled for a surgery consult to remove my gallbladder. But I have been putting it off b/c of the "horror stories" read on the internet. I have the pain, etc...even though I've eaten a low fat high fiber clean diet (except peanut butter and some dark chocolate). I also workout do the weights and cardio at the gym. I had a Xida which shows my gallbladder function at 27%. B/C of the sludge, my GI and doctor want it out. BTW its also exacerbating reflux which I've never had before. They think the removal will alleviate everything so I'm willing to do the surgery hoping I'll have the success you did. Thanks.

Well you are one of the lucky ones. I went ten years undiagnosed, despite trying and saying all along it was my gallbladder. No one believed me til a smart Urgent Care do finally listened to me and didnt care about all the normal tests. Referred me to a surgeon and the gallbladder was removed Sep. 6 2012 two days before my 40th birthday. I feel really good now. makes me mad that 10 years I spent suffering knowing all along it was the gallbladder.

I meant to add that not once did I have "classic attacks" either. I never threw up and my pain was always back pain. and rib pain.
sometimes chest pain.
My gallbladder was adhesed to my liver and intestines and pathology report said chronic cholecystitis with cholesterol polyps

Curious as to how it has been w/your gallbladder gone now that it has been a yr?? I, like you, am very much on the fence about removing mine for those exact reasons. I have had several friends in the last few months get theirs out and they are each having their own problems still..

I had my Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Procedure on Saturday 22nd September 2012

This was deemed necessary after two episodes in 2008 and April 2012 of off the scale pain, and after ultrasound and a  MRA scan

I had my gall bladder removed by keyhole surgery 8 days ago, everything went fine.  For those about to experience this op need not worry too much! silly to say don't worry as it is more the fear of the unknown.  I went to theatre at 2.10pm and was back on the ward at 4.20pm after spending some time in recovery.  I experienced body shaking when i was in recovery but this was due to the anaesethic and soon passed. After dhaving a small cup of icced water (which soothed my throat from where breathing tube had been) i dozed on the ward for about an hour, then had two slices of toast and marmite and a  cup of tea, then sat out in a chair.  Once i had spent a penny the nurse phoed my hubby to come and collect me, i left the hospital at 6.45pm.  The four incision sites were  alittle sore too be expected especially on coughing or sneezing! I did not experience any pain in my shoulder from the CO2 gas inside of me.  I didn't really feel that hungry for a few days so existed on toast, little bowls of soup and endless cups of tea! But now a few days on i am eating most things, albeit a smaller portion, and i am keeping a food intake diary so as if i do experience an upset, or problems with my bowels then i might be able to narrow down what may cause it.  My tummy seems alittle bloated but i feel sure that will reduce in the coming days.  My dressings never came off after resuming showering after 2days post op, so all in all everything is pretty good and on track for a good full recovery, so i say DO NOT procrastinate if this proceedure is offered to you as it will probably be a fraction as bad as what you expect.

Hi,

I am very glad that someone has posted their success story. For over an year I kept having issues with my belly. My lower abdomen would hurt and get swollen. The pain would be constant and last a few weeks. After many many tests I was told that nothing was wrong with me. Then finally I went to see a surgeon and he had asked me to take a HIDA scan. It showed that my gallbladder was emptying only at 15%. I had no gallstones. The surgeon said I had to have it removed. I did some research, wasn't sure what to do. but did the surgery a week ago. I woke up after the surgery in so much pain. I had not expected it. The pain lasted about three days. It would hurt to breath deeply and move of course. But I remembered the nurse telling me that it was very important to lie down prompted so that the gas could move around and to get up and move around. And so despite the pain I did get up. The first day I only got up to go the the bathroom. The second day I got up to move around the kitchen, get some water, make myself something to eat. Third day I went for a super short walk something like a half block and then I slept the rest of the day. Now, 6 days after the surgery, I feel so much better. And I am even planning to go back to work tomorrow. I did get very constipated but had gone to the bathroom twice already. I eat small meals with very little fat but often. I'm planning on taking it slow and let my tummy heal. I will slowly add more variety to my diet and after about a month start introducing fat back to my diet. We will see how it goes. I read so many horror stories about the GB removal and they made my terrified. But I decided to listen to my body, rest as much as I can, be positive and hope for a good recovery. So far, so good! Good luck to anyone out there!

Seriously...it is a gallbladder and removing it is a tiny laproscopic incision. To a surgeon it is like turning the key in the ignition, no real driving needed. Sedation biggest risk. Post surgery diarrhea is biggest complication and a little fiber to absorb raw fat the solution. It really is a no brainer.

Way to much overthinking about this. Consider this, the biggest trigger for any and all GI related issues is stress. Let it go...stop overthinking it. Listen and trust your doctors If you didn't have a problem you needed fixed you wouldn't be asking his advice in the first place.  Don't go to the doctor and then ignore his advice then call back and complain because you are no better.

Do you know how many patients I have had that ignored the doctors advice only to be on the phone the next week BEGGING me to find a surgeon - any surgeon they dont care - to get the gallbladder out ASAP? At least one a week. Enough so I often didn't cancel surgery consults despite a request to "Hold off and let me think about it. I feel a little better now".  Yea you feel better now but wait until you get hungry and finally try to eat a meal.
