I came back from a snow trip 3 days ago and had a swollen upper labia minora /clitoris ever since. It hurts a lot when I get up to walk and even sitting down. Most time I have to eave my legs spread so that I don't receive any pain. I started getting some discharge previous before that which led me to think it might of been a yeast infection but I never had a chance to go check it out. Is this what yeast infections leads to???.... a swollen inflamed vagina!! Can anyone help me please with this problem.

It could be caused by your Bartholin gland.... it is a very tiny organ, one on each side near the opening of the vagina. This gland produces fluid to lubricate the vaginal lips. If the opening to one of the glands is blocked, the fluid backs up. This causes swelling of the gland and is called Bartholin gland cyst. Bartholin gland cysts vary in size but usually are less than the size of a golf ball.
Cysts can get infected by the bacteria and become very tender. In some cases, walking, sitting and urination may be painful. Treatment varies depending upon the size of the gland and symptoms.

Last night I was having sex with my boyfriend when he noticed something was wrong. He said it felt like I was pushing him out and something might be protruding from me! I went into the bathroom and the I was all swollen and red, it did kind of look like my vulva had begun to turn inside out. I've never been allergic to latex before and because the problem arose after he put the condom on I assumed it was a newly developed allergy... however it doesn't itch. The swelling went down over night and there's just a mild discomfort now. What is wrong?

I'm glad I am not the only one! I have been dealing with this for almost 5 weeks now and it is miserable. It is itchy, swollen and almost feels like a very coarse hair is poking right in the middle. I can't stand it! I am recently unemployed and don't have health insurance. I don't know what to do.

hi. you may want to go back to the doctors and ask them to give you a chlamyda and ghonnerhrea [sorry i spelled them wrong] but anyways you should ask them to give you cultures for std's because what you said your symptoms are they sound more like an std or p.i.d. and its better to check bcuz if you do have one and you dont get rid of it asap then it could mess up your bod and cause infertility. I'm not sure if you want to have kids or not but i think you should check it out if you have not done so. Good luck!

Okay, my problems are a little different so I wanted some answers.

I'm 17, never so much as seen a penis in real life. Never slept or experimented with a girl. Never tried. Don't use public restrooms. I don't itch but I have this burning sensation on my labia and clit. It was just the labia for awhile but now it's my clit. It's been about 6 days and it's meh. I have eaten the same thing lately that I've eaten for 8 years. Only now I'm drinking less soda, more water, eating less stuff that's bad for you. It's not even swollen, it's just sore and feels like it's burning. Here's the catcher- after 3 weeks I masturbated and it didn't hurt despite everything from wiping and walking hurting. Do you know what any of this could mean? I went to the gyno about a month ago and didn't get a call or anything telling me something was wrong.

Hi ladies,

I have been searching endlessly for a similar issue to mine and I keep finding common symptoms but never quite the same. I hope there is some kind of solution for us all!

I went to a fitness convention last weekend and was sweating a lot. The 2nd to last day my clitoral hood started to hurt and swell slightly. Over the next 2 days it became extremely swollen and severly painful. I couldn't walk or sit or stand without my legs apart. It was so swollen that it would be irritated my the slightest touch. I went to the walk in clinic and cried as soon as he touched my hood. He said everything is extremely inflammed inside and out and couldn't even find my cervix. He put me on a bunch of pills to treat the bunch of common STDs and infections and swabbed me. I'm waiting on the results still. But then that night I started bleeding right from under my clitoral hood. Its like a chunky bloody secretion. I freaked out and went back and received a steroid shot for the swelling. It plus the pain killers help the pain but its still swollen and huge. Neither dr said they had seen this before and had no idea what it was. I'm going to an obgyn today so I will keep everyone posted with my results. I wish us all the best of luck!

This morning up with a burning, itching and swollen labia/ clitoris. I had been using an over-the-counter medication for a yeast infection, but I have also been taking antibiotics for a bladder infection. I called the pharmacist, and he said that the symptoms are not uncommon, and that there is a recent over-the-counter cream that he carried that relieves these symptoms almost immediately. I suggest talking to your pharmacist about this cream if you have these symptoms.
Good luck, and I hope you find relief soon!

I have been dealing with similar issues over the past 2 weeks. I have been with the same partner, diet, exercise habits for over 2 years. I have had itchy labia in the past. I try not to scratch, and use vagicaine or hydrocortizone if I absolutely can't stand it. But almost 2 weeks ago i had some itching, scratched it, and put some bacitracin ointment on it. When I woke up the next morning, my hood was 2x its regular size, and a few hours later it was doubled again! It scared the c**p out of me, and being a holiday weekend, I went to an urgent care dr. He said it was cellulitis, caused by an abrasion/STD/infection, etc etc. Basically scared the you-know-what out of me. He gave me anitbiotic cream and oral antibiotics for a week. It reduced the swelling, but it is still insanely itchy!

I don't know what to do! Everything stings and I haven't had sex with my husband in weeks!

What kind of miracle cream are you ladies using?

I'm 15 and I really need your help at the moment ladies, please.
For the past month or two months or something I've been having an insanely icthy clit and the bit surrounding the clit.

I've had a urinary tract infection because and that got cleared up and then the symptoms started happening.
Yes, I've had sex but the time i have sex the symtoms were already there. :\ So I don't think it's an STD as we used protection too.

I have been to the doctors on my own as I am scared of telling my parents just in case she finds out I've had sex and disowns me or something.

We do have urinary tract infections running in the family and this wasn't bad.
And my mum also gets thrush, which is common.
Buh when I went to the doctors they treated me for thrush, I used the cream and the tablet.
Once used the tablet my discharge was thick with what I now think the tablet didn't dissolve right and come back out because it wasn't normal anyway I used the cream. Then my vagina was okay for 1 day.
:\
Buh the horrors came back.
This is so horrible to think about at my age, I don't know what to do!
So I went to the doctors again on my own, he gave me another dose of the thrush cream and tablet.
Right so I repeated the steps and it did the same as it did before. It came back.

Now I'm scared to go the doctors because i'm worried what it might be, I am scared to go to my parents because they will be upset that I didn't tell them.
I've tried putting vagisil on it, it doesn't work.

My clitorus and either side of it are always red which is scary, I'm always clean because I wash many times a day.
However, now I also don't get discharge :S
My vagina is so dry!
it's horrible :-(

PLEASE, if anyone understands, or knows how to get rid of this please please help. I just wanna be like a normal girl, i don't want to have to be constantly worried and itching my vagina...

let me know as soon as possible please anyone.
:-(

I just wanted to post and let you and any future women know that I too had the symptoms you descirbed. I had no idea what it could be as I also had no yeast infection and no UTI. After I started complaining about the pain my boyfriend suggested trying the baby's diaper rash cream and it worked! It is the Desitin Overnight(purple tube) which is what the pediatrician recommended for his really bad diaper rash not long ago. My boyfriend applyed a liberal amount around the red and inflamed area and it stopped the burning immediately. Within 2 days I stopped using it and I have no more burning. I hope this helps anyone who experiences this annoying pain. I am not a doctor and am not sure if it will work for everyone but it certainly worked for me.

I'm so thankful I'm not the only one! Everyone must here this a lot but it is certainly true. Two and a half weeks ago, I had hemorrhoids. After using an OTC ointment, I started to get this burning, itchy sensation on my labia minora. I was extremely frustrated with the cream, so I stopped using it. I'm also just a student in college and have not been able to get any health insurance. That's beside the point, but two days into this red, burning itch, the hood of my clitoris also got inflamed. Every time I walked, stood, or sat my vulva would become so irritated that it felt like small burning bugs was walking underneath the skin of my labia and hood of my clitoris, creating streaks of burning itches. The hood of my clitoris swelled to two/three times it's size. I've tried Vagisil, Vaseline, hypo-allergenic creams, wet wipes, and nothing worked.

But the weird thing is that I tried not to scratch it because this happened to me more at night (I noticed that this itching became so unbearable because I had more discharge at night), so I would wash it only at night with Summers Eve (it's in the feminine aisle. It's a hypoallergenic body wash) , air dry it a bit, during regular bathroom breaks dab it lightly with some toilet paper to take most of the moisture away (nothing else. If using wet wipes also make sure to dab it after with a soft dry cloth), and tried not to wear tight fitting stuff.

So, this is what I figured was wrong with me. Because I used the hemorrhoidal cream, I must have had an allergic reaction. After nothing worked, researching this topic, and after finding something about vulvalitis/vaginitis, I decided to take Benadryl (an antihistamine OTC drug). I took it six times a day (2 for every 4 hours) and the itching went away. If I didn't take it then, the itching would appear. So, after two weeks and a half, the itching has almost started to disappear completely! I've only had to take two at 06:30 am and two at 6:30 pm before bed.

I tried the Benadryl cream, but it didn't really help, every cream I've tried only made it worse. Taking the oral medication, truly and definitely helped me. If any of you haven't tried to take some antihistamines, I'm not a doctor, but do consult your doctors about it first. It's worth at least a shot if you haven't yet.

Hi I'm 19 years old. I really don't know what I'm dealing with honestly. I never had sexual intercourse but I had oral sex when I was 17 years old with my ex who is a virgin as well as two years younger than me this was my first sexual experience about a year and half ago. I never had any other type of sexual relations with anyone else after. About a few days ago the lips of my vagina started to itch and it was unbearable... So I did like any other and itched it... after a few days i noticed that it was becoming unbearable I didn't scratch though. The itching had stopped so I thought that was it. Then it flared again and stopped shortly... a few days after I masturbated twice. The next day i realized that the itching returned and alittle discomfort accompanied it and this was wierd I used a diluted selection of water and detol to help kill any bacteria that was causing anything just to be safe on examining myself after a shower, I realized that my Clitoris was swollen and was giving discomfort. Where the itch had first started i saw 3 white cloudy bumps. I'm thinking this can be a Yeast infection I'm not too sure as yet. But thing is my discharges are normal no smell. I just got irritation and swelling of the clitoris and 3 white bumps on the outer lips of my vagina. Please someone if you had this problem can you assist me on it if it really can be a Yeast Infection? What can i use to treat it? SHould i continue the detol use to cure this or do i need antibiotics as well?
