This sounds similar to what I'm currently going through. I just recently got over my 2nd yeast infection in the past 3 months. The yeast infection was gone within three days, but afterwards I started noticing that I was still itchy and irritated down there even though the "cottage cheese" discharge had disappeared. This morning it was really bad and really irritating. My clitoris is inflammed and my right lip is twice it's normal size. I'm really worried as to what this could be. I have a doctor's app. set up for tomorrow afternoon, so if I get any word as to what this might be, I will pass along the news.
What you have going on sounds similar to some of my Urinary Tract Infections. I know with some of them the burning i had didn't seem to bother me at all and even seemed to subside while i masturbated. You should visit the doctor and ask them to do a urine sample and check for a UTI. They will give you an antibiotic thats usually relatively cheap. That is the only way to get rid of the infection. In the future you could take cranberry pills daily to prevent another one from happening. I take the cranberry pills because i hate cranberries but they are great for urinary tract health, anyways i haven't had an infection since i started taking them.
Hi ladies,
I also have had very similar symptoms for the last 5 months. My labium minus is inflamed, red and very sore. I have been tested for yeast infections and have had numerous urine tests. However, the yeast infection swabs always come back negative and although I have white blood cells in my urine there is no infection.
The pain is so severe that it hurts to pee, have intercourse and even sleep at nights. To help relieve the throbbing I have tried Vagisal but it does not work well. I have also been recommended to try using a yeast infection kit (twice). The kit seemed to help at first but the symptoms came back about a week later. I have also been told that it must be due to a product I am using. I have stopped using all soaps but the redness is still here.
I have recently tried a cream that was given to me by my doctor. The bottle says it is ratio-ectosone 0.1% CR and betamethasone val. 0.1 CR. The cream does actually help with the pain. However, as soon as I quit using the pain comes back.
I'm trying to get in with a obgyn and I will post if they find anything wrong with me.

okay it seem like everyone is haveinthe same issue but what is it!? what do they call this kind of irritaion?
Try over the counter Hydrocortisone 1% Cream externally. I seemed to have brought a lot of relief.
Ok everyone, I think that I may have the answer. It's Vulvodynia, because I researched it on WebMD and it described the same symptoms of itching, burning, swollen, stinging, or rawness, aching, soreness, or throbbing. It says that you may come encounter with these symptoms during certain activities such as exercise, intercourse, or walking -- or even while at rest in one specific area or throughout your entire vulva. As I sat there reading this info, it occurred to me that Charolette from Sex and the City had Vulvodynia on the show. So naturally I popped in the dvd and watched it and Charolette of course thought she had a yeast infection but the doctor said no. Instead the Dr. diagnosed her with vulvodynia because of the itching, stinging, burning symptoms and told her that numerous patients have similar symptoms. Then she prescribed Charolette with an anti-depressant for her vagina and said that it wasn't serious, just mostly uncomfortable. I know that Sex and the City is just a show but it seemed pretty accurate to me! you should check it out, it's season 4 episode 2 "The Real Me". I hope this helps!

I am 79 and this is a problem that has only recently begun for me. I have found that if I have little or no meat protein I do not have the itch. I have always had a high ureta count so there could be a connection. Try changing the diet to mainly vegetables, especially raw (as in salads) and I think you may find it will work. For the record I have not yet talked to a doctor - I have always been too embarrased to do so. For my own remedy - I wash (with soap) but rinse very well and then apply Vagisil, or Lanacaine. Both are OVC. Good Luck
Hi,
I am 20 years old. I am sexually active and recently noticed that my clitoris was really sensitive. I recently looked at it to see what was going on, and noticed that it was really swollen, and painful to the touch. I am not sure what could be the cause of this? if anybody has any advice I would really appreciate it! thank you!

hi im 32 and i've got the same problem . Two days ago my vagina became really sore and painful it felt like i had just given birth i carnt sleep at night and what ever i do just feels like it gets worse. I went to my doctor I felt like i was a naughty school girl who had been sleeping around with the questions they asked me,then when i told them ive been married for five years they asked if we had different sexual partners at all.I know they need to ask some of these questions but im still non the wiser to whats wrong , i left in more pain after all the messing around they did and wondering if my husband had been seeing any one else. The pain is now getting alot worse it's swollen and burning and im going hot and cold its now doing my head in it would be so nice to be able to use something to reduce the pain even if its just at night so i can sleep that way im not getting in a mood with my kids in the mornings %-)
I have the same thing. The Gyn calls it Vulva Vestibulitis. At night when I'm burning, I use an ice bag rapped in a towel between my legs and it cools you down & allows sleep. I take a med called Amitriptyline at night & it helps, but it does make you sleepy at first during the day, but you adjust to it eventually. I keep a spray bottle of water by the toilet & spray myself after every visit. I do not wear panties at night, and wear loose clothes during the day at home w/o underwear. I've read to only wear cotton ones when you must wear them. Every cream or ointment I've used only makes mine worse. Cold water is the only thing that helps cool it immediately. My Gyn says the next step is a cream formulated from a medicine used for seizures. I haven't tried it yet because my ins. doesn't cover it & it's $60 a tube. He said the final thing is a surgery to remove the glands located on each side of the opening of the vagina, but it doesn't always work. Hope this helps.
me to i thought i was the only one when i pee it stings and the whole thing is swollen and itchy i cant sit down with a correct posture and i have to sit on my lower back when i take a bath it helps only a bit but then it feels dry and itchy i didn't go to the doctor because i dont think its such a big deal so hear i am. one time when i wiped it with a toilet roll i saw a spot of blood not alot just faint i think it has a cut in it.
I just got this burning feeling around clit or urinary area..went and got urine checked they said no infection but very acidic.........I firmly believe now iots the clit...I have not had sex since my hubby passed in 04..so thats not it...I can't figure this out...the bvest way to describe is BURNING on the clit....I have never had this before.....I just sat in warm bath no soap..didnt help...every time I pee Im using a glass of warm water to rinse instead of toilet paper...thats not helping.
...I cant stand this burning feeling....I ried looking...but due to surgery I have loose skin down there now and wonder if because skin is drooping down thats it..altho Id think that would be more protection of the clit.
..I am so hurting and cant sleep.....ANY SUGGESTIONS OF WHAT I CAN PUT ON IT BEFORE I HAVE THE AGONY OF MY DOCTOR LOOKING AT IT....thanks all...

I too have all the symptoms. I thought at first it was a yeast infection and then when it wouldn't go away I thought maybe BV. I tried everything from the yogart douches, garlic pills, folic Acid, acidophillus, tea tree oil to soacking in apple cider vinegar. After 2 wks with no change, I had enough and went to the doctor this morning. I was diagnosed with a very bad case of BV and Trichomonas. I cannot wait for these antibotics to kick in and feel normal again. I will never wait this long to be seen after. The doctor said this wasn't going away without antibotics.
Hope this helps!
