I have had a sore throat for about 5 days and am on penicillin. What I am worried about is that there is a small lump in my armpit, and it has been there for 3 days now. I have never had any lumps before there, and I was wondering if it could be an allergy to penicilin!!!
It is quite possible that you are allergic to penicillin. Lumps that are created due to allergies in the armpit usually go away as soon as the provoking substance is removed from the body. So, I believe you should stop taking penicillin and find something else for the sore throat, or it is even better you visited a doctor, so that you can be sure it is a penicillin reaction
Hi there,
No you are not allergic to penicillin because the reaction would be more severe. These lumps are most likely your lymph nodes reacting to the problems in your sore throat. Lymph nodes help us fight the infection in our body. Your throat problem is most likely caused by some bacterial or viral infection. It has just been several days since you started to receive your penicillin so you will have to wait day or two more to notice positive changes in your body. Is your throat swollen? I think that you should not worry about the lymph nodes under armpit because they will get back to normal as soon as your throat is all fixed up.
