Hello. I have some delicate problems and I really hope that someone out there will be able to help me.
I'm 22 year old female and I have never used tampons before in my life. Just the other day a friend recommended me some tampons because she was using them since she can remember. So, I have bought them and started to use them. I kind of like it because they are very convenient, invisible and pleasant to wear. But yesterday a strange thing happened to me. When I tried to remove it, string that was connected to it- broke and it remained stuck inside of my vagina. What should I do? Can a tampon go beyond the vagina and get lost inside the body? Can it cause some kind of infection!?
I have read you post and really want to help you because you don’t have so much experience with tampons.
What happened to you- happens extremely rarely because you must know that you should remove it by gently pulling on the withdrawal cord. If you feel resistance when you pull on -try to relax. Also, if you try it to remove it too soon, this could happen. Staying a little longer inside of vagina it can absorb enough menstrual fluid and become soft and pliable. If string connected to tampon does break, it is usually a simple matter to reach the tampon with your fingers. Tampons theoretically can't cause vaginal infections if used properly. They are sterile and only if you’re putting it with unclean hands you may cause infection. It can't go further inside your vagina because there are cervix of uterus which blockades it.
