I'm 13 and pregnant. I cannot/will not tell my parents. I want to see a social worker at an agency neer by, but I want to find out if my parents could do anything legally if they found out? Yhis is in ohio.
Hi Jane,

You are a minor and therefore they can make decisions for you.  I would hope they would appreciate your input on any decisions but if they don't, you may be able to have the court intervene.

At some point your parents will find out.  As difficult as it may be you really should talk to them about this.  You also need prenatal - medical care for the baby and the earlier the better.

Going to the social worker may make things very difficult for you and your parents.  Not to scare you but the social worker will represent the State of Ohio.  The state can make decisions, and if any laws were broken (how old is the father) press charges, that you don't agree with.  It would be MUCH better for you to talk to your parents first and if needed, get a lawyer.

The social worker will look at your living/family conditions, means of support, the father, lots of things.  It's not a matter of just walking in and telling them "I'm pregnant, what can I do about it."

I gather you are thinking placing the baby up for adoption.  I wish you the best.
