Hi, my children spend too much free time watching television. Is this going to cause some eye problems after long period like this?
Hi, modern TV sets are equipped with special additional accessories which provide reduction of radiation emission. So, by the researches provided by manufacturers there should be no radiation problem from prolonged TV viewing. But, certainly that prolonged focusing on any object and using eye structures for longer period lead to fatigue of these structures and can cause certain disorders. It would be better if you could control how much time your children spend in front of TV set. Children are supposed to learn and do something creative, this is important for their mental and intellectual development.
I think that this is one of the oldest myths about television. I have to say that I still get little surprised when I ran in to someone I know that talks about this. I have to ashore you that your children will not have any vision problems from watching too much television. I think they can only gain more weight from sitting for too long. As much as I know there is no study that proved that spending too much time if front of your TV will have negative effect on your eye vision. How much do they spend daily in front of the TV? If you notice that your kids sit too close to your TV then this might be a sign of nearsightedness.
