Apparently a log in lasts for a week because I just had to re-log in and it did the same thing to me. After logging in there were no "posts since last visit". I think my last visit was last night so there should have been several pages of them.
I'm guessing the system sees it as though I just got here instead of remembering the last time I WAS here, so of course there are no posts yet.
