Why do you think that police officers, for example, are paid so little in comparison to other careers? Why do you think that we value athletes more than our safety officers. Does anyone have an answer. Is this the type of thing that speaks to one's value in our society? I just don't understand it. Most professions that involve service to others are not rewarded thru their pay. What do you think?
Sometimes you have to keep in mind that athletes are more than just people who catch and/or shoot balls, they are entertainers of society who are very talented at their skill, they are role models for children, and they help corporations sell their products.
Sure not all athletes are good role models, but not all cops are good protectors. Police officers aren't even legally required to help citizens, they are only supposed to keep the peace.

OK, that makes sense. We know that there are problems in every profession. Why aren't they paid the same? Why don't corporations use service employees? Wouldn't that emphasize the value of those people too?
