A few months ago I was feeling around for my IUD strings and noticed a hard lump deep inside my vagina, located on the back wall. The lump felt fairly deep inside the wall. I assumed it was fecal matter and ignored it. Then yesterday as I was feeling my IUD and felt the lump again. This time, I knew it wasn't feces because I had had a bowel movement not too long ago. I became concerned and decide to check my rectum. Sure enough, I could feel the lump. It feels soft at first, but if you press hard enough you can feel a hard rope like mass inside of it.

I am going to bullet point a few facts that might be important, as if I wrote them in a paragraph the poet will be two long.

· I am 23 years old. ( How likely is bowel and vaginal cancer at my age? )

· I have suffered from chronic external hemorrhoids since I was about 12. Could it be that I have found and internal hemorrhoid?

· I have bad constipation and my stools are very hard and very large. By large I mean to big to fit down a toilet. I have passed stools as wide as my wrist.

· I have no bleeding or pain, although the inside and outside of my anus can feel quite sore after I have had a very large stool pass through.

· I gave birth two years ago.

· I have been tested for the HPVs that cause cancer. They were negative and I received the HPV vaccines shortly after. I hAve not had any new partners since then.

*I am assuming this lump is originating from my rectum as it is easier to feel it through my anus than it is to feel it in my vagina.

Upon further inspection of my anus, I noticed the lump isn't rock solid a as I had originally  thought. It's semi hard and it feels like clay ( though not pliable. If that makes sense). Is it possible I am feeling internal hemorrhoids that have been aggravated by my extremely large and hard stool?

Did you find anything out about this? I have the exact same thing. I don't have insurance so I can't get to the doctor with out it costing me an arm and a leg to get it properly checked. I am planning on getting insurance soon, but have to wait until my hubby gets his next raise. I am terrified of cancer (my grandmother did have colon cancer and thankfully beat it) and I have a long history of IBS. Never been pregnant or dealt with hemorrhoids as you have though.

The lump is felt from both vagina and rectum and is blocking bowel movements. Feels like a hernia or something. But whenever I look info up all I find is info on "prolapse" but they all say they are not common in a young woman (27 years old) who has never been pregnant or been though labor. Also all the prolapses sound like they push into the vagina, while this feels like it is the vagina pushing into the rectum. It feels like you described above.

Let me know if you found anything out about this!

Thank you,

Meghan

Did you find out what the lump was?

I have the same thing.  The doctor told me it could be due to some kind of prolapse, but I have not had any kids, so this is unlikely. It sometimes shrinks after I have had a bowel movement.  I am going to get a colonoscopy to make sure everything is fine.  Please let me know if you find out what it is.

So happy to have found this thread. I am having very similar experiences.

I missed my period (while on birth control), and have not had sex with my partner for 6 months (therefore, pregnancy is out). I decided to check things manually now that my period has been missing for a week. I found to my surprise that I could feel a lump from the vaginal side up and back towards the rectum. I recently passed stool, and therefore, it should not be feces. I also believe it to be an odd place to have a cyst. I am curious/ scared as to what this may be, as colon cancer runs in my family. However, I am only 24 years old and live a generally healthy lifestyle. I have not yet manually checked the rectum, but may schedule a GYN and GI appt. Before I do, I would like to know if anyone could share their outcomes/ experiences. I would like to get a sense of how urgent this is.

Thanks,

i was just bathing and i just found a lump when i felt inside my vaginal wall, if i put my thumb in , the lump is where my thump tip is, behind my vaginal wall, like it is in my anal walls. it is about the size of a quarter, if a quarter was a sphere. have you found out anything. i really really do not want to get a colonoscopy... my grandmother died of colon cancer, and cancer runs in my family. i have never had any children, i am 30 in a couple weeks. i do have issues with bowel movements so i would like to know if a tumor is blocking it. please let me know if you found anything.

I felt a lump inside my rectal wall too, I'm scared that this a symptom of a more serious illness like cancer. I never got it checked. The doctor advised me before to do a colonoscopy but it was too expensive. I don't know if there are scans out there to check my intestines instead of a colonoscopy. I also happened to search about prolapse. I don't think I've ever pushed my bowels that hard and I've never given birth. I'm just turned 19 and is a virgin. I've felt this lump for 3 years now. I also want to consider checking an appointment with an OB gyne to know if the lump is actually inside my vagina.

I have it too, and after a little more digging on the internet it seems like it may just be a normal muscle.
I plan to ask my gyno next time I'm in and I'll try to remember to post again!
