is this some kind of epidemic of something?! I found this site as i'm worried about the same symptoms. 19 - not been sexually active for 5 months, brown discharge that is two weeks away from my period. Is there anyone out here who can help all of these people (and me!)
?
?
me too, was wondering if implanon was to blame, if it is, its coming out
i have the Implanon and have had the same thick brownish/black mucus discharge too!
I have been having the same problem, I asked my Dr. what it could be and he said that it is left over blood from the period before. My Dr. actually raised my birth control to higher estrogen...he said that higher estrogen helps push EVERYTHING out during the cycle. I havent tried the new pill yet...I start next month. I sure hope it works b/c this brown stuff is NASTY!
I am 21 and have had 2 kids, I also have had my tubes tied , and am sexually active too. And I am haveing this same problem.. its 1/25/08 and its been hapening for about 2 days now. its like a thick mucus looking stuff thats dark brown and its on my panties and when I wipe.. and I am really worried about it.
If anyone can help on what it might be that would be great?
I have a doctors appointment schedule but they couldnt get me in till Feb. 12th

[Vaginal brown discharge could indicate infection, consequently a pap smear may be recommended to determine vaginal wart virus presence. During early pregnancy, there may appear this type of flow that may be just old blood. Dark color of the flow indicates a high level of hemoglobin in the blood, which in its turn reveals the old age of the blood.]
^that scares me because i have this too, im on birth control and i have been sexually active since like june 07 (with the same guy lol) i think i may be alergic to latex also, because i always have a reaction to the condom after we have sex, but other people say its old blood or before their periods, and i do not believe i am going to have my period anytime soon, but i dont know because even though im on the pill it still skips around and is never on the sugar pills.

Me too. I'm 16. I'm not sexually active. I'm currently having brown discharge before or instead of my period. I'm really worried and i need an good respond. I've read so much different answers on the net and i'm really confused. Please help. Thank you & God Bless.
I've been having the same problems. Sexually active, using condoms, healthy otherwise. I know that old blood is brown, so I wasn't too worried about this brown discharge [especially since it wasn't irritating] but it did have me curious! Found out some info.
DISCHARGES
Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.
Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally come. If you have spotting at the time of your normal period rather than your usual amount of flow, and you have had sex without using birth control, you should check a pregnancy test.

Some answers for you all.
You should be concerned if your discharge is yellow, green, or gray. Have a good weekend!

i have had that problem i am 14 years old its just a werid period
o.O o.O NOTE: THIS IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW. IF YOU HAVE BEEN USING TAMPONS AND THIS BROWN DISCHARGE HAS OCCURED YOU MIGHT WANT TO GET A PAPSMEAR JUST TO SEE IF ONE IS JAMMED UP THERE. IVE HAD THAT HAPPEN TO ME AND THATS ALL THAT WAS WRONG WITH ME, AFTER THAT I QUIT SEEING BROWN UNTIL A MONTH OR SO AGO AND THAT WAS DUE TO OLD BLOOD THAT WAS BROWN AND EVENTUALLY TURNED RED AGIAN. IF THAT ISNT THE CASE THEN GET A PREGNANCY TEST OR SEE A DOCTOR ABOUT STDS OR STIS. YOU NEVER WILL KNOW UNTIL YOU ASK..... XD XD
just before i had my period about 2 weeks ago i got a browny coloured discharge... and now even though my period ended over a week ago, yesterday i got the browny coloured discharge again. i havnt had sex and i'm not on the pill... however my boyfriend and i do, do otherstuff [if you get my drift]. It doesnt hurt & doesnt itch down there or anything... is this just my body cleaning itself out?!? please get back to me, im a bit worried.
thanks x
thanks x
First of all I just want to say that it is so good to hear that there are many others that share this weird discharge...
Apparently my periods are irregular (unless I am on birth control) and between periods (even on birth control) I would experience a brown discharge (old blood). I was trying to conceive over 6 months with no luck so I decided to see my GP and asked what was going on. The GP advised me to take some tests, these tests helped me discover that I have PCOS:
(Polycystic Ovary Syndrome - (abbreviated PCOS or PCO)), it is an endocrine disorder that affects approximately 10% of all women. It is the most common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive age, and is a leading cause of infertility. The principal features are weight problems, lack of regular ovulation and/or menstruation, and excessive amounts or effects of androgenic (masculinizing) hormones. The symptoms and severity of the syndrome vary greatly between women. While the causes are unknown, insulin resistance, diabetes and obesity are all strongly correlated with PCOS... (ALL CASES ARE DIFFERENT)
The GP explained to me that this could have caused the discharge, but still after all tests there was no conclusion to what exactly this discharge was.
To all women who are having this discharge - It could be anything, a number of things if you are highly concerened see your GP like I did and put your mind at ease..
Goodluck...

What you're experiencing could be implantation bleeding, which appears to be just spotting, or a thoroughly light time. Implantation occurs contained by the first two weeks of pregnancy and happens when the fetus attaches itself to the uterine wall, displacing some of the uterine inside layer, or endometrium. I suggest you take a pregnancy assessment.

Im 15 and I been having this brown like discharge past two days but im not due on my period for another 2 weeks and i haven't missed a pill yet, but i take the kind i only have a period every 3 months and i just started them about 3 months ago, so could it be from that it will happen like a week or two before them or what? I mean after 4 years of being on the normal kind could just switching to one of every 3 months mess up my cycle or something?
