I have read many posts about mucus in the throat causing constant clearing of the throat. When throat mucus is constant and not accompanied by any other health issues, then the cure is as simple as increasing one's intake of water! The thick mucus build up occurs when the throat and the body's fluids do not have enough water to kept them from coagulating and thickening up in the throat. It's kind of like when you cook and you are making a gravy, but if you don't add enough water or other liquid the gravy will thicken too much. That's what happens in out body. We eat foods through out the day and don't drink enough water to wash it down and clear our throat and our lungs of the residue. Fluids other than water, i.e. juice, sodas, simply add to the accumulation. So start making it a habit to drink water either before or after a meal and throughout the day. For immediate relief, however, drink warm tea, followed by water about an hour later. Hope this helps someone.
I choke on my food because of mucus. I don't even go out to eat any more. cant enjoy a meal at home.I feel fine otherwise.
I'll give it a try as I just had Anterior Cervical Surgery at the C-3 level and the mucus is keeping me up at night.
