I have had anxiety/panic disorder for years already and have learned alot about helping manage them.

I have "the flutters" at times too.  Have been having them for the last three weeks this time.  I was also diagnosed with sleep apnea, so I am now using a CPAP at night for that.  When I doze during the day...."the flutters" wake me up.....scaring the heck out of me.  I am on 10 mg Lexapro which I have taken for the past several years for aanxiety and panic attacks.  (Running your cold hands under warm water often helps during the "cold hand" part of a panic attack.)  I have seen that a side effect of Lexapro is said to be shallow or stops in breathing.  Within the past 12 years my heart has beat so fast at times that I was admitted to the hospitalon two occasions.

I do sympathize with all of you on here!  I can only say that when you have this problem, you are able to "help" calm others who have had this problem or who are experiencing it now.  Those who have never had a panic attack, flutters, or anxiety disorders cannot fully relate to it.

I've had this same problem since I was 15 I'm 30 I had heart monitors stress test well I can't remember what dr said that day but I was told alot could be from stress but something to do with a valve .. I wish I can remember but lately it's getting worse my heart jumps so bad my heart stops I swear than I feel y heart beat and I can't believe I'm alive cause its so slow.. It really scares me to . The pressure in chest like having a heart attack or something ... I had flutters so bad when I was wringer it never stopped it was every 3 min it would flutter but now it's hard flutter that takes my breath araya and then can take a deep breath like I have to keep breathing in till I get that relief . It's weird I hope you can figure it out cause I'd like to know too

I had a lot of the same issues you are describing the flutters and arrhythmias etc...at first my Dr diagnosed anxiety but nothing helped and it only got worse. It took 4 yrs to finally get the right diagnosis. I have pre-ventricular contractions that are made worse by anxiety, caffine and lack of sleep. Dr.'s often see these as benign as don't mention them to patients as a possible cause. Ask for a cardio referral and a stress test. You could also as for a beta blocker which serves to help PVC's and anxiety. Best of luck

I'm scared of death and dying too. I think more so for me, it isn't me being dead, it's leaving my loved ones. I don't want them to be sad. I've gone weeks thinking about me being dead and how my family Will feel or how I would feel losing someone I love. It makes me so sad. I experience death over and over again in my own damn head. I dwell on it. I've had a few week's lately where it hasn't been on my mind but I'm dealing with other sh*t right now that keeps my brain focused on that. I know that's causing my issues. I too get the flutters in the chest and skipped heart beats. I know its anxiety. Like I said I'm dealing with sh*t right now and I don't always have it. Just when I've been stressed for longer periods of time. That's what brought me to this page lol.

I am a 54 year old woman who has had to battle this for years. I know it's very hard to think that you are not going to die especially at night when the fear gets worse. I don't know if you are a Godly person but I have a couple of suggestions that I know will greatly help you. 1st read psalms 91. Quote it constantly!! especially when the attacks are at their worst. get up out of your bed, panic attack and all and loudly decree this psalm! I promise you there will be a difference in your life! also there is an herb called aswaghanda that will help you. I take it along with my meds and it really works.
