Swallowing is difficult, speaking for any length of time, and blowing a wind instrument renders me speechless for several minutes. These sympotms have worsened in the past two months. (Surgery was 19 years ago.)
What coping mechanisms are available, without surgery?
Hi

I had a thyroidectomy 1 year ago. I had one surgeon who was going to do a partial removal. When I got second and third opinions, those two surgeons said that a partial removal is not recommended because of potential future problems. Did you have a partial removal? If so, perhaps you should have your thyroid checked again. Is it possible that your problems are no related to your thyroidectomy at all? There are other problems that could be causing your symptoms. You should see an ENT doctor right away, especially if the symptoms have been a problem for a while. This may not involve surgery, but if it does, consider the risks of not having needed surgery. Those risks/consequences may be worse. Get yourself checked....Don't do guesswork here. Your symptoms should be of great concern. Let me know what the docs say.
