HI lindas, I am 82 and marc 15 2013 dr told me after CT scan with contrast, told me I have kidney cancer, next month May 13 2013 I will have surgery to remove my kidney. Since you went this trough a year ago, could you update what happened to you???????? I am on the internet since and I have to tell you it is a Jungle. So confusing thank you and if someone have similar situation please let me know Lisa
I have had three bouts of this. Preceeding the burning UTI symptoms is kidney/back pain and occasional pain during intercourse. This is so much earlier than the urinary tract symptoms that I wasn't able to connect it at first. Then come the feeling of having the bladder/urinary tract infection. About the 3rd day blood is visible in the urine. and becomes progressively worse. The pain is incredible. At this point I am in excruciating pain and unable to leave the toilet. Blood drips as the urine flow decreases. Then pieces of white ragged tissue and little dots of tissue pass. Several days after the tissue passes the symptoms clear up.
The first two times this happened I was tested for infection - lots of blood - but no trace of infection/UTI. I had a CT scan for kidney failure or stones. Nothing there either. Then I had the procedure done by a urologist where he goes up the up with a camera on a cath to look at the bladder. I have a beautiful bladder. I even brought in pictures of the tissue. The urologist was mystified, and asked if I was sure I wasn't having my period. I had a hysterectomy 20 years ago, and haven't had a period since.
The last time this happened was a month after seeing the urologist. Since I didn't think traditional medicine had the answer, I did my own research. I began to strictly follow a bladder friendly diet. There are websites for people with Interstitial Cystitis that are extremely helpful for this condition. I don't know if it is IC or not, but the symptoms cleared up. Whatever you do, don't drink cranberry juice for this, it will only aggravate the condition.
For immediate relief when you're in the middle of it try Anbesol directly on the area. Also, the old home remedy - a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. Switch to Kava or another low acid coffee.
I can only think that I may have had a cyst that ruptured and passed through before I got to the doctor. Since I followed the bladder friendly diet, then moved on to a very healthy fresh fruit and vegetable based diet I have not had any problems. I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has tried the low acid IC diet, and if it helped them also.
that is happening to me. did you ever find out what was causing it
I had the exact same symptoms several times, three times in one year.. I fairly often had blood in my urine but no UTI. Then it got worse, the pain was excruciating. I actually passed straight red blood after urinating. Later I passed large clumps of (clearly) tissue. I was in such agony that I wasn't even able to get into the doctor's office until several days passed. Once the tissue had finished passing the pain went away. I even took a picture of the tissue to bring in to my doctor. A week after the extreme part of the episode was over I ended up at a urologist. He did the procedure (forget what it's called) with a camera up the urethra to look at my bladder. It was clean and remarkably healthy looking. I had previously had pain which seemed to indicate kidney issues and had had very sharp abdominal pain during sex. All that showed on the CT scans was one ureter not passing urine as expected, however it did kick in later. I did not show kidney stones or blockage. All I can tell you is that I gave up on traditional medicine. I suspect that I had cysts that ruptured and passed. When I was in the throes of the extreme pain I drank water with a teaspoon of baking soda and cut down on everything acidic (this condition is the opposite of a UTI - DO NOT do cranberry juice). I applied Anbesol to the ureter area which numbed it and was extremely helpful. I was meticulously careful with my diet and got over it. It has been a year and I have not had a recurrence of the symptoms, and have returned to a more normal diet, but jump back if I have any burning urination. I was on a 'bladder friendly diet' which you can find by looking up Interstitial Cystitis. I don't believe that's what I had though. Then I combined it with an Anti Inflammation diet. Between the IC and AIF diet I was eating much healthier and have had many improvements in other areas of my health.
Sorry - I got mixed up on the format of this site. I think I just replied with a repeat of what I said the first time. No, I never found out what it was, however after a rough year I have not had it again. I am so sorry you're going through this. It is excruciatingly painful. I spent hours on the toilet crying, and it was always worse at night, so I'd be exhausted and tired and up dripping blood on a toilet instead of resting and healing in bed. It's like the worst UTI on crack. The bizaare thing is that nothing shows after the symptoms have passed, except for a small amount of blood in the urine. I still think I had cysts that ruptured. The tissue and blood passing through are painful, but then you're left with a new clean and shiny bladder. Please know that you'll make it through this and feel better. Also, please look at your diet. Find a bladder friendly diet for people with IC, interstitial cystitis. Don't drink soda, tomatoes and especially canned and jarred tomato products, and switch to a low acid coffee like KAVA, at least temporarily. Please let us know how you fare.
You mentioned that you are not a doctor but for me your are a good doctor. I was having the same problem now I know the answer and cases of problem. I'm a male 26 yr old, and I have started to use 2 lemons per day just keep body smart. Somebody recommended one lemon daily but I used two just to get better result. Today was 4th day of this routine and I saw tissues in my urine and lot of pain after urination and now searching for solution. As lemons are rich of vitamin C, I also have same suspect. Thank a lot now I will suspend this routine and continue it at low rate. "Excess in every thing is bad". In my opinion normally women like to eat things which have sour taste and these things are rich in vitamin C.

If you have had no answer and still have issues< check with your doctor to see if you have interstitial cystitis. i have chronic horrible i.c but some have i.c and have your exact symptoms.
Sounds like you have IC...Interstitial Cystitis. Look it up and I am sure you fit majority of the symptoms. Hope this helps.
