I wear a retainer and sometime while sleeping i bite down the wrong way and I guess it causes my taste buds to swell. And yes... i do pick with it, and now it's white and sore. Will this go away or have I caused some type of infection. No puss comes out when i squeeze it.
My taste buds become sore and white whenever I eat something that is too hot. Once when I went to the Japanese restaurant for the first time and used one of their souses, they were sore for three days and I developed kind of rash on my face, and I had no idea what was going on…I just put up with it.
It would be good if you could refrain from picking to see if the sores would go away. It should in a couple of days unless you continue to pick with dirty hands. You could cause an infection though. Sometimes it may even take 10 days for damaged taste buds to get better. If you develop any other symptoms, or if it becomes too uncomfortable, you should see a doc.
