Hello! I am a 29 year old female who has a consulation for a tonsillectomy procedure on 3-26-09 and aside from the pain of recovery, I am most afraid of losing the voice God gave me. I am a singer and travel alot using my voice. Will I be able to still powerfully sing after the surgery? Will my the range or sound of my voice change? How quickly will I be able to sing after the surgery? HELP!!!!!!
i can't imagine you have any difficulties singing after your procedure. I raised the same concerns to my ENT and he swore to me that there won't be loss of my voice, and if anything, it might be more powerful because there's no obstruction left. The one thing I would recommend, and I actually did this for my procedure just two days ago, is ask your anesthesiologist if they can put a smaller/narrower tube down your throat instead of the usual one. I have not had any issues as of yet with my singing, but then again, after only 2 days, it's hard to tell. Good luck!
